OOC Thread

#1 Post by rredmond »

For general OOC chat, including strategy discussions.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

My Dwarf is actually level 8/8; but that's no big deal.....

Hmm.....I'm thinking another Mage and maybe a Paladin or Ranger might be a big help..... thoughts?

1E level 9 cleric needs 225,001 and level 9 fighter needs 250,001.

(That's from my 30 year old Player's Handbook, were you looking at a web reprint?)

Assuming we can meet up a day before entering the tomb, Worren can set up a Leomund's Secret Chest with up to 10 cubic feet of non-living stuff. So if anyone has something they think would be good to keep on hand that way, let me know.

Worren, for instance, is planning on putting in a backup set of spell components, and vials of holy water so far.

Any thoughts on coordinating spells?

Hey amigo;

My character is level 8/8 due to his Dwarf level limits of 8 for Cleric and 8 for a Fighter with STR 17.

As for what to stash in our magical hidey-hole....some extra weapons (particularly things like arrows and bolts) might not be a bad idea; maybe spare holy symbols for Clerics; food and water; oil flasks and light sources.

Coordinating spells......I'm thinking with a place as famous for its deadly traps and magic; lots of 'Find Traps' and "Detect" spells.....Detect Magic, Detect Evil, Detect Invisible; perhaps some 'Remove Curse' and 'Dispel Magic' spells......spells like Teleport, Dimension Door, Fly, Featherfall, etc. might be good for falling in pits; getting stuck in some death-trap room, etc.

Thoughts?

I'm playing a 10th level Cleric.

If people are interested, and we meet a day or two before entering the tomb, Malibran will cast Continual Light on a few copper pieces so we have light sources without needing to worry about torches or lanterns. Good to have at least one torch lit in case we need to use flaming oil, though.

Heh. Yep y'all have delved a bit further than this game. Might be a better topic for RPG Discussion/Theory in the forums at the bottom of US. I know I have to clean this thread up and may well move those posts there. :)

Whenever you feel your character is ready please post a big "WAITING FOR DM APPROVAL at the top of the sheet, so Ron and I know when to take a look at it.

We should probably do that also to assess all the divination power we have and try using it to get any details we can on the place.

Well, we need too see what magic we will get thrown our way, but I think we need to try to use some magic to get as much info as we can.

So it sounds like for offense we'll rely on primarily on weapons and casters should focus on detection/divination/healing spells.
Worren has a lot of spells to select, so that's how he is going to focus his selection.

Spent the whole day flying and/or waiting in airports. I should have a final draft for my character this Friday.

Ron and I would like to try starting by this weekend. If you could make an effort to finish up your characters before then we would appreciate it. :) If you don't get it done by then it's ok. We won't start without you but I won't promise that the other players who are done won't call you nasty names for making them wait. ;)

If anyone needs help just give a shout.
