Jasmine

As with Gil, Jasmine attempts to remain as motionless as possible.

Corthalis is watching what the guards do - if it seems that the wagon will make it through, then nothing - if blocked, a sleep spell

Alec

Tiring of the infernal guards B.S. He turns and looks at the skeletal hand and yells in a high pitched shreak.

WHAT THE H*LL!! HE IS TURNING, GET AWAY FROM ME. OUT OF THE WAY. DEAD MAN WALKING.

Slaps the reins on the horses and drives on through. Stopping for no one and running over any one in the way. (Might even back up and make sure)

The Northern Gate, Mid-Morning

"Magistrate, please be careful--" Artabanu appears in answer to the robed man's summons and looks on with concern as his superior barrels down the stairs, arms waving furiously.

"Be silent, you fool! Close the gate!"

But before the Magistrate's command is heeded, Alec urges the team ahead. One of the big northmen, hoping to avoid the grim fate which he suspects will befall him if he allows you to escape, lunges forward and latches onto the reins, digging in his heels and leveraging his massive frame to bring the wagon grinding momentarily to a halt. But muscles snap taut, sinews bulge, and before the others can pile on, the wagon lurches forward and the guard is thrown aside.

The words of a spell are on the magistrate's lips and anyone looking back will see that he points directly at you. Suddenly, a creeping cold begins at your feet and rises slowly up your legs, through your waist and--atop the wall, ropes are loosed, wheels whine in a blur of motion, and the heavy gates slam shut. The effects of the spell immediately abate and you feel perfectly normal as you rumble away down the desert road North of Nuz Edrak.

Behind you is cursing and shouting. "You idiot!" The magistrate berates Artabanu.

"But you said to close the gate!" The guard commander replies. "I--"

"Shutup, fool!" The older man snarls, and that is the last thing you hear before you clank and clatter down the well-paved road into the desert.

Moments later, the massive gates finally creak slowly open, just enough to admit half a dozen men on horseback. You can't see much from this distance, but they're definitely on your trail. They are approximately three hundred yards behind you at this point and gaining quickly.
