Phil is happily surprised to see that he can find a set of plate in his price range - He doesn't need ornate, as it's going to get hit anyway.... He will attempt to sell his banded mail for what he can get in trade. If it's at least 30GP, he'll offer his ready gold and the diamond in payment. If less than that, he will offer both gems.

Phil happily hands over the diamond and the remaining 160GP, donning the new armor to get the feel of it. :D

Sheet updated. diamond & 160 gold deleted, armor & AC updated.

You get a suit of plate, looks slightly used, but fully functional.

After two days you set out.

The port city of Saferin is a day and 1/2 travel down the mountain side from Starlorn.

The first days travel is uneventful as you pass lots of people traveling to and form Starlorn along the well traveled road.

"I still get the feeling we are behind schedule. Any idea how long this ritual to join the stones takes? Metal to metal welding in a forge is a matter of hours. I have heard but not seen of creatures who petrrify with a gaze instantly and mages who polymorph in just a few heartbeats."

Ruthgar:

No idea Sax, I am assuming the gems are the two halves of the key at this point. Not sure what kind of magic needs to be brought into being to rejoin the parts nor how long that might take. Are we pitching camp here or over there?

Hildr

"I agree, this isn't as simple as repairing a metal key. No idea how long but it won't be easy."

Hildr takes her place in the order and moves out.

The night passes uneventful as others camp not to far form you on such a well traveled road. The next day you arrive at the port city mid day.

Hildr

"Lets head to where my vision showed the original statue and see if we can find an entrance to the ruins."

She will try to use her vision as a guide.

The statue stands across the port of the city, one foot on each side of the bay.

Storm raises his slanted elven eyes in appreciation. Well now. THATS impressive. Let us hope it also lets us into the heart of this demonic faction. I wonder, Chosen of Odin, can you sense any diabolical darkness near at hand? Does the eye even gift you with that knowledge? We should really come up with a plan of action to tackle these demons, instead of just all rushing in and winging it at the time.

The small elf holds his peace after that, following the others.

Hildr

When only the party is around Hildr will uncover the Eye of Odin, otherwise she will keep it covered.

"Nothing yet. Lets check out the heels of the statue and if we can find the ruin of the previous statue, where its heels would have been."

It is mid day

you travel to the base of the statues left foot. When you get there you find a large iron fence erected with a locked gate, standing before it two town guards.

You see other tourists milling about looking at the statue.

Ruthgar:

Will slowly appraoch the guards, stopping from time to time to gawk at the statue/megalith. To one of the guards: Geez, very impressive, never seen anything like it. Really puts your city on the map.... can you tell me any history? Why the gate? You could charge for letting folks touch such a powerful monument. Are their any guided tours available?

The gate keeps everyone about 15' from the statue.

The guard looks at sax and repeats a screed with the enthusiasm of someone who has repeated it 10,000 times.

This is the statue of His High Lord Majesty Piponin Posdin, King of Starlorn, 120th of his name line, Lord of the Lake of the Immortals, Defender of Mid Realm, Scion of Poseidon.

The statue was build upon the ruins of the great statue of Poseidon that was destroyed in the Turning. All that remained of the great goliath was from the knees down. the greatest sculptors in the world gathered 15 years ago and over a 6 month period completed the unrivaled feet of architecture you see before you from those remains.

We had some problems a little over a week ago with people trying to damage the statue, when confronted they engaged the city guard and were killed, the fence was erected and guards stationed to keep others at bay.

Storm whispers to Hildr, I wonder if these were the cultists of Pazuzu. For all we know, they gained access to the feet and are impersonating local guards to keep anyone from interfering in their research. Can you tell if these men are wicked? I doubt they are but it’s a possibility. It doesn’t look like we are getting in this way, with guards stationed at the entrance. Perhaps when night falls and there aren’t a gazillion people watching.

Sarin looks about while the guards are distracted and tries to think of ways to sneak into the place at nightfall.

Balasar looks at the statue and whistles amazed at the story of only 6 months to build the new statue on the remains of the old "Wow wee only 6 months to build? Man I would have figured it'd take a year at the least. This statue is amazing to behold."
