Except for admin-related tasks here on the site, I am planning on taking the rest of this week off. I meant to post this yesterday, but I just need a break.

I may pop in and try to review another character or two before then, but don't expect for this game to formally begin until next week at the earliest.

We're moving!

Start here.
Please note there are two different launch posts -- one for Marullus and Monsieur Rose, and one for everyone else.

I have also unlocked this thread now that we're underway, so let's move all out-of-character conversation here.

DM Edit: Moved from action thread to here (removing spoiler).

DM needs a Marching order?

If Gruuthuk accepts coins and comes to the front line, he and Nella have the most melee attacks to put forward (as he's a dual wielder). That would leave both casters in the middle and the two Gloomstalkers as rear guard and with bows.

Or, if Unari steps forward, it puts one gloom stalker in front and one in rear, and Unari has the best AC.

Thoughts? Decision goes to whichever RPs going to the front. Nella's already there with the lantern.

Gruuthuk wants no part of being on the front line in combat if he can help it. He has reach, so he can attack from behind someone else, and will use a bonus action to disengage if necessary. He is fine leading the way during exploration, but would prefer to sneak in the dark.

And I did post that Gruuthuk started heading east in the IC thread.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Does that mean Gruthuk prefers the second rank (with reach) instead of the rear?

Does Unari come to the front and lead (as Underdark explorer)?

Anyone else have preference in the order?

Jacxor would prefer being near the front ahead of those carrying light sources.

Lika would prefer to be protected by large angry walls of meat in front and behind. :D

Having the spell casters in the middle seems to work out ok. Or at least the less martial spellcasters, as the rangers can cast as well.

This doesn't have to be the final order anyway, we can always tweak it as needed.

Yes. He can get two melee attacks from the second rank, one of which will be a sneak attack since he'll have an ally between him and the enemy. That way he can use his bonus action for the second attack instead of disengaging. But that's when we get into combat. We are probably not going to stay in a 2x3 formation upon entering rooms, so he can be in the front to wander the halls and everyone can take their preferred position for combat as they get to go on their turns.

Since it was asked, I am just trying to decide how much history of Undermountain to share.

I should update this game again later today or tomorrow.

I have avoided OOC reading and research on it to keep it IC; but if it's easier for you and your time, I am happy to do so. I don't mind peppering in bits of IC Lore and letting you focus on our adventure to reduce your time burden.

I definitely prefer (and request) that people playing in my games do not read ahead or research the module I'm running.

My plan was for this to be a simple dungeon crawl so I didn't spend much time on dungeon lore or backstory when preparing the game. That said, I'm fine to do a bit of research when a player has a request.

Apologies for letting this one slip. I'm hoping to be able to move this game again later today. If not, definitely over the weekend. Then, progress should continue more regularly; it's just been a busy week which will happen from time to time.
