That's the same with me, always. If I didn't wait my turn, I'd post 10 times a day. :)

I'm planning on just letting you guys level as you get the required number of xp points.
I know "in the old school DND" training was required but I'm assuming that is no more.
I'll level people after the encounter they get the necessary XP points if you guys are all good with that?

Yeah I think the "real world experience" is best.

Agreed too. Some DMs require a long rest before leveling, some don't.
Rules question-- Do level 1 chars get a hit die to recover hit points after a short rest?

Yes, 1 HD per level.

So how about for levels 1-3 you can basically "train and practice" for a day per level to level.
Then for level 4 onwards you need some kind of training ?

Works for me.

It's not about 'realism' either way.

It is about what you want from the story and how you want to run it. Requiring training means that your adventure goes on pause and you as DM need to run individual private forum sessions for every character before we get back together and start the next adventure session. That's a lot of investment and can be hard to coordinate and sync the timeline in play-by-post. It does, however, involve other influences (NPC mentors, external personal obligations) in the story. Those might enrich the game by widening the tapestry or they might detract from a centralized story. It's ultimately DM preference.

I hear that.
Just the "poof" and you level seems bit of a cop out.
I think its the 1st Ed demon coming out

OK, after thinking about it and agreeing with Marullus' point on continuity for the group, we'll just stick with the poof and you leveled version.

regarding*. You level and it says +2 proficiency. Where does that go?

In the D&D Beyond character sheet, there's a Proficiency box in the top row. I think all classes start with +2 Proficiency already. So there's no change at 2nd level.

:D I have the 2E demon. Like Stephen Colbert said when he was playing 5E, "In the old days, we had to earn it!" https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/502-ste ... hew-mercer
