Anne would love to throw the torch in the spiders, but now the bird is flying, and she remember her old uncle Emirikol saying "never do ranged attack into melee!"
She will give her place to Tiberius, who will wait the spiders to fork them, as Zeek (zeek get closer, even if he have to attack as a second rank)

LePlank will wait the first outcome

Arya releases Dart for an attack flight. The kestrel swoops at the lead spider, but fails to nick its body. (Miss & return to Arya)

OOC: This was Arya’s attack using her “ranged weapon”

Knuckles and Einstein retreat into the northern hallway, switching position with Zeek who readies his iron spear.

Luke continues to search for a secret door, but the evidence for one is scant.

Anne yields her position to those moving up from behind, shifting south towards Luke.

Hanover and Tony move into the left and right corridors.

Betty begins another chant, and Michel prepares for melee.

Zeek will try to "open space", one step north, but only if he can also make a attack with no penalty (OOC: i think the kids nowadays calls it adjustment step).

Anne will yell "I'm the Herald of the Spider Queen! Begone, foul creatures!" and attacks spider #1 if reachable

LePlank will try his dart only if he can close enough not to hurt his comrades

Tiberius will try to attack from a kneeled position, for better aiming

Fortune frowns upon the brave adventurers this day.

Image

  • ~ The three spiders get the initiative on the group. One of them (#1) jumps at Arya, but she steps aside. (Miss)

~ A spider (#2) aggressively pounces on Hanover. Its fangs bite into his leg, severing an artery! (DMG 2+CRIT) The proud noble collapses to the floor and bleeds out... DEAD

~ Michel falls victim to the last arachnid. (#3) The arthropod bits into the abdomen of the brooding artisan, (DMG 1+CRIT) opening a gashing wound that spills out blood and intestines. The elf stares blankly and topples over... DEAD

OOC: Neither Hanover or Michel had enough Luck points to match or exceed the 20 Initiative of the spiders, so they lacked the opportunity to act before they were attacked.

Zeek returns to the fray, steps over the bodies of Hanover and Michel and jabs into one of the spiders (#2) with his iron spear! (1pt. dmg) The corn farmer withdraws the spear and the spider oozes dark fluid, but continues to move!

Arya chucks her dagger into her spider (#1), killing the web-slinger before withdrawing to the north! (3pt. dmg - DEAD)

Derrek and Betty shift north, making room for those in the west corridor.

Tiberius and Anne advance into the melee gap and attack the same spider! (#3) Both strike with their weapons (Both hit - DEAD), downing the vile archnid in a pool of foul, black liquid!

LePlank and Ruby try to advance, but are unable to find a clear route to the enemy.

Tony thrust at a spider (#2) with his dagger, but comes up short. (Miss)

Einstein, Knuckles and Luke shout encouragement to the combatants.

full attack!

Anne shout a 'hiiisss' sound, as if the spider could hear and understand her.
Tiberius say something nasty in dwarvish
Zeek just had enough of spiders and snakes. He is considering being a anti-druid
LePlank try to pull the dead away from the scene (and maybe take something that can be useful for the group adventure, like coins)

  • ~ Tiberius is pounced on by the lone spider. (Random target) The arachnid rips into the dwarf with its fangs (DMG 3), opening his abdomen and spilling out guts and blood! The mushroom farmer drops to the floor, open eyes staring at the ceiling. (DEAD)

Anne and Zeek desperately try to avenge their comrade, but each attack fails to strike the intended target.

Tony maneuvers behind the spider as it attacks Tiberius. The minstrel takes advantage of the enemies’ position (Rear attack, +2 to hit, AC 10) and thrusts his dagger into the spider’s abdomen. Putrid liquid spurts out and the denizen slumps over the body of Tiberius – DEAD!

Arya kneels down beside the spider corpses, fighting back a gag reflex. She traces some of the symbols on a spider, trying to identify them- or possibly read them. Can she make out any of the words-- or at least identify the language?
Anyone read these?

Derrek pokes at one of the things, wondering if they might have gems in their guts.

Ruby Pappa paid for the best tutors- I'm sure I can read it.Can
She?

All sorry and such, LePlank will take the dwarf fork. Zeek wikk take the rest of his gear.

Anne closes the dwarf eyes, and make symbols with his blood on his face. "Let the chaos embrace you in the afterlife, brother!"

Anne, the spider expert (as she believes), will examine the symbols. It have to have a connection with the spider god and the illustrations
