There's a substantial debate on Dragonsfoot about color spray cast in an area of magical darkness. I wasn't certain how I was going to adjudicate it, and I figured at any rate it would be better to have saving throws on hand rather than to stall the game longer by requesting them afterwards. Color spray itself doesn't actually allow for a saving throw in many cases, and sleep doesn't at all. Redwarrior was trying his best, but ... in the end this is a good way to resolve the wizard problem, and start another option for you to pursue. The trouble is that now you have 4 or 5 (maybe 6) viable quests to resolve. These things start breeding like rabbits once you set one wheel in motion in any kind of reasonably built game-world. If you do seek out the mage (soon to be necromancer, fair warning), it will be a grounds up new scenario I'll have to write from scratch because I haven't found one that will quite fit all the parameters I have for this situation.

Also, the boss is on vacation through the end of this week, so I may have to work late tomorrow the rest of the week, but I'll try to post something asap.

Sometimes you face opponents that are more dangerous then yourselves. Such is life and part of old school, time to run away!

Yup. Time to leave. We can report back, but this is above our pay grade.

I the current context, "food for spellcasters" has an ominous and literal ring I'd prefer not to have contemplated.

My boss is back from his vacation, but there's a lot of backed up work we need to catch up on. Hopefully I'll not have to spend too much more time catching up.

As soon as you find each other, I can start the new thread. Until then things will have to be handled through dm's. You know, fog of war & all.

Some time ago I posted
"I also need each of you to choose "A" or "B" for some backstory information I 'm working on. I will let you know what it is about later."
As far as I can tell, I never got a reply from the players for Harker or Igber, and I think those characters both have new players now, anyway.
I will need those choices soon, please.

To "B" or not to "B"...that is the question!

OK - "B" it is

I have a new entry, The History of The Duchy of Yakkairosh. It is a history of the land you are in.That entry will grow as I complete the Gazetteer of Yakkairosh.

I have to rename the Duchy of Stomanell.
The name 'Stomanell' was getting stale, and didn't fit with emerging language conventions, so I decided to rename it.
It is now known as Yakkairosh, but it used to be called Kyirnheim by it's native peoples, the Kyirvani (who prefer their name for their lands....)

This is important, because the party is of mixed race.
Harker, Traesta, and Pebble are all of the C'thons race, while Dorath, and Igber are native Kyirvani.
Conweena is of the more savage Bor race from the distant Nordt.

LMK if you have any questions.

Edit to add: Feel free to update your character profile with this new racial information. If something I've written gives you more inspiration for your backstory, we can develop it further.

Out of character, I agree that we need to deal with this tower and what is below now, rather than running hither & yon. I'm not sure what Dorath thinks right now (other than he REALLY wishes he had that other spellbook...), but there may be lots of information to glean from even what is left over in the upper chamber, as well as down below. In any case, I think when/if we "report back" on our "failure", we would be expected to say more about the environs below. Just my 2 cents.

Conweena is fine searching and dealing with whatever we come across here first.

Sorry for the delay. It's been a long week. One of our machines at the shop is down, and we're still backed up from Christmas. I guess I have job security.

No problem, I will still be here.

Here is my idea of the code Conweena follows. Obviously from another game (It is the code the followers of Sarajin follow from Harn World if wondering). Maybe not exact but pretty close.

Ah! I am familiar with the Sarajin of Harn... though it has been many years.

Eh... I wish I had more details on Harker's past. His sheet is kind of VERY vague on details about father, mother, siblings and childhood friends... or even his relationship with his family?
Probably should have just made my own character from 1st level...

Same with Igber.

But that is D&D all over...lots of details of what type of toothpick the character carries - none about their socialisation.

Although we have just moved many miles from one sub-cultural area to another (based on distances between european/asian/african cultures) - so we are basically foreigners anyway.

It is also much easier/faster to make a D&D character then one for Harn. Very different games, but I enjoy both. I feel this game does more background than many D&D games and I have been enjoying it.
