I could memorize a wyvern watch and cast into that tunnel as we past it. not a wall but will act as a guard for at least 1 strike.

If we can bring a large enough, sturdy enough object along, Fimmion can cast an enlarge spell on it to effectively block off a tunnel entrance. The casting time for such a spell would require one round, and would last 5 rounds. If after suggesting this idea to the group in-game, everyone wants to go with it, the cook will need some time to switch out one of his memorized spells for another.

At this point, we have no idea what's even left in there to draw out. And I'm certainly willing to entertain ideas for drawing them out, but I also think it's probably going to take an incredibly good explanation before our DM even gives us a chance of it working, whatever it is. But especially if it involves driving them out with smoke. Maybe a bait-runner might be a better way? But I'd have a hard time voting to put someone else's character in such danger...

I was kind of hoping we would a) get a better idea of what's going on after getting a bit closer and b) get a better idea on a possible second entrance that might be used to our advantage (making a fire pit of the front entrance, then watching the secondary one for fleeing trogs). Who knows... maybe we'll find the door wide open and the lair abandoned. Or the door busted INWARDS, which might indicate activity of some larger creature drawn to the dead bodies (though who or what might eat dead trog is beyond me... maybe a snapping turtle? They eat anything!)...

Who knows what we're going to find!

Cast enlarge on Grim. He'll block that damn tunnel. :)
...and then squash the mage...*sigh* nevermind

Well...

We'd have to wait another day for that, as spells have already been memorized for the day.

This would be useful to do to someone's shield or something to block a tunnel so that we can prevent pursuit if we need to retreat. Maybe a rock or a shield? How big can you enlarge an object? Or, rather, how large would it have to initially be to effectively block a 5'x8' passage?

The only drawback to this is the duration. 5 rounds wouldn't be nearly enough time to block off a passage while we explore the rest of the lair, I don't think. Still, something useful to keep in mind for the right application!

Nyah. Wouldn't bother me a bit if you threw together a quick table and randomized the current state of the lair. :)

 I've been guilty of this as well! Oh how true this scenario can be all too often...

Close! I was thinking something more like...

Lair Contents (1d6):
(1) Elder Trog (roll 1d4 for remaining teeth)
(2) High gnomes (roll 1d6 for reaction; on a 1, they attempt to eat all of the party's provisions; treasure: a sapphire one-hitter worth 150gp )
(3) 1-12 Forum Trolls (zero-level humans with a CHA of 3 and a WIS of 6)
(4) Snapping Turtle (normal sized... be careful, you could lose a finger!)
(5) 1-4 Gordon Lightfoot fans (roll 1d4 to determine how many verses of Kumbaya they make you sing)
(6) 1-4 Fire Lizards (and by "Fire Lizards", I mean Missouri's most common lizard, the five-lined skink)
