Re: Chapter 4: Wizard's Basement
No. Not to my knowledge no, spellcraft would not explain what was the difference. To clarify all of the other doors were simple oak doors this one is darker wood and reinforced with iron hinges, and has a warning sign on it.

The door radiates with a magical aura.

"Well, the door is certainly enchanted, so will probably resist brute force. I could use my knock scroll to open it, but it's the only copy I have"

XLore- Attempts to pick the lock. This lock is beyond my skill. Maybe we should move on and heed the warning on the door.

"We can come back later. If we leave this room for later, a Knock Spell is probably the best way to get in. But
we should save that for on our way out. If this door is magically sealed there is a good chance it is worth it to
get inside and look around."

"This is weird, the door smells like Herbs. Otherwise I can just open it. Any ideas on why the smell?"

Re: Chapter 4: Wizard's Basement
You note that this room also is directly on the other side of where the kitchen is.

Elanriel
"Watch yourthelf. I'm not thure anything is jutht anything in thith plathe," Elanriel observes dubiously. "It'th probably full of magic were-thage, ogre-ano and dire-parthley."
She shifts nervously at the back, only half joking about it. I mean, look at the bathroom, that had seemed innocuous enough.

The Kitchen Stores
This storage chamber contains dried fruit, sacks of grain, bottled fruits, and a supply of kitchen linen and spare dishes. The bottled and dried fruit is edible looking. There are herbs hanging to dry some look overly dried and unusable. There is another door in this room in the East wall, it is left open inside you can see moldy cheese, rotted meat , and dried smoked fish, and an out of place silver sugar bowl.
