I think I'd got Jess confused with someone else who had recon.

In that case we ought to stick together and play the tourist couple, if Tiglath is happy to retcon that.

Reconnaissance by fire. If someone shoots back, there's the badhats. If someone runs, probably a badhat. No response? No live badhats there :D

Thank you.

I'll "coast" the game over Xmas Day and gently carry on through the holidays assuming that you folks have time to post. However, my intent is not to leave anyone "behind" so although description/conversation may go on the action won't progress until we're all aboard.

Please throw in any feedback on the game. Hopefully the tactical options on the combat system are becoming clearer (when to aim when to snap shoot). There is indeed an element of intrigue - I believe you are slowly picking it apart. I hope that this adds interest.

Merry Xmas/Solstice/Happy Holidays to all! :)

Culturally appropriate seasonal greetings to all :D

This seems like a pretty good game, so far ;) Good bunch of people, interesting situation, looking forward to the new year playing it.

Taking this conversation to where it belongs ;-)
OOC: Well, yes, I see your point but "choreographed shooting" against passive targets can surely offer no yardstick for the stressed sensory environment and decision making pressure that is "real" combat shooting?
Having taken a tactical handgun course back when I was more agile, shooting drills are designed to emulate the stress and pressure of shooting situations. No, the targets don't shoot back, but the time pressure and mix of "shoot" and "no-shoot" targets are quite effective at increasing the stress level. For me, it gave me a lot more confidence in my ability to hit what I aim at, which is good enough to nail an 8" plate at anything inside 7 yards with every shot. During that course in the hellish heat of a Texas summer, it was 100% hits at 25 yards, but my reflexes aren't what they were then ;-)

OK, so can you get damaged armour fixed, like expensive tailored cloth vacc-suit stuff that cost a fortune?

Yes.

It will need a professional with proper equipment etc and some downtime but very doable.

I’ve shot pistols (.38s) but not tactically. As far as proper rifles go I used to be a marksman with the Mk IV Lee Enfield and I’m (vaguely) familiar with the Bren LMG or, more accurately, an earlier version of me was! :D I’ve used the Lee Enfield on exercises so I’m familiar with actually handling the thing. I had a career in law enforcement so I’m familiar with tactical entry to buildings (but not armed operations/explosive entry).

The AHL time frame is “too long” for both shooting and melee which in my experience is generally over about as quickly. I think that because they needed a "turn" to include folk moving meaningful distances about the board (as well as being in combat) they perhaps understandably went for a "one size fits all" compromise ...

On the AHL combat chart anything with a "bullet point" before it e.g. ACR, Gaussrifle, most energy weapons and support weapons come factory fitted with them. Of course you can buy them and retro fit to anything else or use IR goggles etc to get to the same end.

The PgMp 12 will have them ... but if you're thinking of picking it up make an Int or Tactics roll first.

Edited into the master list above.

Notes

For ACRs choose mags of either DS Pen 4 or HE Pen 3 (makes wounds one grade worse)

gauss pistol is Pen 4

I'm guessing ammo for the Gauss pistol might be difficult to come by on Collage? Is it legal here?

Swings vs. roundabouts HE might be the better choice for a put down hit.

NB Illegal at law level 3 (if caught with it) but then if you are armed to the teeth and in a war zone the police are less likely to be conducting stop & search! :)
