"Let's keep moving forward, but close the doors behind us just in case."

"If they are scurrying through the walls, I don't think we have to worry about the doors. I wonder if we can pour that amphora of lamp oil we found through these rooms into the walls, then light it with the military oil. "

The group continues forward down the hall. It turns south, passing the door to the dust-choked room, and you come to the familiar area where you faced off against black skeletons and kobolds. All is quiet here, now.

The group moves through the round room, past the hooks where the masks once stood. In the corridor beyond, they turn north into the corridor with the iron door.

There it is. The iron door.

All is quiet.

"So, who wants to do the honours? Do we maybe ask the statue how to use the knocker?"
Speaking to Solaine's new henchman "do you happen to know high Thulian, as part of your studies?"

"Brother Galan carries it, let him do the honours. We should remain on guard for whatever might be behind the door...or behind us for that matter."

Let's have Galan give it a thump with the knocker and see what happens.

Quinn

Will man the corridor to the round room behind his tower shield to protect the rear.

Galan steps forward. He raises the knocker. He gives the door a quick rap with the knocker.

The iron door swings open! your torchlight reveals a 20x30 room. The room is piled high with treasure! Jewels, necklaces, and other ornamentas lie strewn about on the floor. There must be hundreds of pounds of treasure here, mostly in the form of jewelry.

In the northeast corner, you see a pile of rags in the shape of a man crouching over a pile of jewelry. As you enter, the man stands up and turns to you. You see that his face has a withered and dessicated look, like a body long in the grave, and his eyes seem like two empty sockets. It bares its fang-like teeth at you, and hisses "Mine! It's mine!"

The figure advances on you, reaching out to grab you with its bony fingers. You see that its wears rings on all its fingers, and a number of bracelets on each hand. Its nails have grown into claws that reach for you.

Best get them berserkers happening!

Torgyr barely registers the riches within before seeing the threat guarding it.

"Take him down!"

He raises his crossbow and tries to get a shot off.

Initiative: [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8

Crossbow: Attack (10+): [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12, Damage: [1d6] = 6

Quinn

Quinn's hears the cry and runs around the corner to engage the creature. If Quinn and Audi with our tower shields firm up in the corridor it will be a barrier for this ghoul to pass over. Throw those flasks over the top and send in the madmen.

So are we changing the marching order? Quinn and Audi in front then Ranulf and Zim behind them?

For the moment, at least, they are far in the back of the marching order. As I understood that, Quinn wants to move up past everyone else to replace Zim and Ranulf on the front line, then have the summoned berserkers fight it...? You can't really throw flaming oil at someone engaged in melee with your friend.

Quinn was just making a suggestion, not faced this creature before. A one hit ghoul might not trouble us but some spectre lich creature might be harder.

Let see these berserkers then, just hope you dismiss them before we divide the treasure up!!

Round 1

As the combat begins, Torgyr gets off a quick shot at the Vault Guardian, but his attack bounces off armor which the guardian seems to be wearing. U Tar begins wailing in a high pitched ululation.

Quinn excitedly tries to push toward the front to fight, but he has trouble moving up the crowded corridor this round.

Ranulf hacks down hard at the guardian, but the creature doesn't seem to notice the blow. The guardian hisses and claws at Ranulf, face full of hatred and fury, but its dirty claws scratch harmlessly against Ranulf's breastplate.

Randolpho isn't able to get a clear shot at the creature, as Ranulf is in the way. Several spectral shapes are also materializing between him and the guardian.

Zim, in the front row, attacks the thing with his hammer, but is unable to harm it. Solaine attacks the figure with her Voulge, but the blow is wide. The spectral forms are becoming more solid. They seem to be dressed as warriors.

Galen invokes the name of Tyche in hopes of driving the guardian away, but the creature is not moved by whatever aid Tyche is choosing to grant today.

U Tar finishes his chanting, and the forms around him solidify. He is now surrounded by four berserkers, pale fallen warriors with beards and great axes, summoned from the afterlife to aid him.

It might be that it can only be harmed by magic...what are our options? Torgyr can pass the warhammer (taken from the mad dwarf) up to Ranulf, Quinn has Blackthorn. What else have we got? The silvered weapons that Quinn ordered? I'm hoping the berserkers can start chewing it up.

Now hopelessly out of the fight with the melee joined up front, Torgyr unhooks the fell warhammer taken from the deep dwarf driven mad with despair and tries to get it to Zim or Ranulf to use.

"One of you! Take this!"
