Varas will attempt to tackle the Wendall. He doesn't want to hurt him, but does want to disrupt his spell.

I was thinking Varas would try to kill Wendall, but I don't think he'd overreact that badly. He won't be above looting him, though!Zhym wrote:I thought about that approximately five seconds after I rolled initiative. But I'll rationalize it by saying there's no guarantee that anyone else in the party will intervene in Lug's little tussle with Wendall or that if they did it would be to help Lug.

Finally, Varas gets some loot!

Ruwyn leaps up excitedly at seeing the fight break out, as if awoken from a long sleep.
"Apologies, Mr. Wendall sir,
for the violence that must occur!
Though you seem nice, I hope to see
our mighty Lug find victory!"
She runs around the room, pausing to peek up the stairs for anyone coming down.
Out of rations, btw. What is in this room? Any foodstuffs or trinkets to be stolen away in the chaos?

Dorvar attempts to tackle Lug.
Enough! I will not have my friends fighting!

That makes 5 initiative for anti-Lug party members, 4 for anti-Wendall party members, and unknown for pro-Wendall NPCs. Will update in the morning.

Marge stands back with the gnomes and watches the scuffle. Dog sits on his haunches, tongue lolling.
"Har! I do love me some good wrasslin'! Git 'im, Lug!"
She mimes a few punches in the air in support. Leaning in, she talks to the nearest gnome, even though he may or may not understand her.
"Mind you, allowing a teenage boy to study the arcane is just asking for trouble. That's a double dose of arsehole, right there. Feckin' eedjits!"

Niles likewise stands back with Marge. "I quite agree, I always ensured my apprentices were at least into young adulthood - it was those fifty to one hundred which were most earnest in their learning. The pubescent have little wisdom or judgement," comments the skinny teenager with a solemn nod.

The Wendall, whatever his other faults, is fast. Faster than Varas or the others that have met him remembered. He easily ducks back out of the way of Lug as the big man approaches, completing his incantation as a spray of delicate poppy fluff flies out across the room and spreads over the assembled adventurers (only Varas, Lug, Dorvar, and Ruwyn are potentially affected)
Enemy Initiative [1d6] = 6
However, the constrained area and the adverse circumstances of being physically assaulted prevent the spell from taking full effect--or perhaps there's something in the tower that dampens offensive magic to prevent students here from inadvertently harming one another? Regardless, the spell only seems to take hold on a couple of the gathered adventurers.
Sleep [2d8] = 4
Dorvar and Ruwyn, as the ones with the lowest hit dice, you are affected first: roll a save vs. Spell!
Regardless of the effect, The Wendall stays clear of both Lug's and Varas's attacks, dancing around the room and beginning to clamber back up the stairs to the upper level with another shriek.
Actions and Initiative! - I'll share info on Ruwyn's findings if she makes her save

Edit: I apologize--Lug's attack does connect. I was reading stuff late last night and misremembered the attack roll. He socks The Wendall in the jaw with a loud kerrrack! and a big bruise starts to form.

Wow, what a crappy roll for poor Wendall.
Re: Expedition - Lug/Rescue II - 28 April, 1 VC
You know, it pretty much fits
Re: Expedition - Lug/Rescue II - 28 April, 1 VC
That's Wendall all over.
Are the stairs actual stairs, or more like a ladder? IOW, could Lug try to pull the Wendall back down, or would the only option be to follow? Finally, is there a door at the top of the stairs, or is it open to the second level?
Edit: The stairs are not stars.

Re: Expedition - Lug/Rescue II - 28 April, 1 VC
They're stone steps running up the inside of the outer wall in a curve. They go up to an angled doorway that leads upstairs. There's no rail, so if he's fast he could try to grab Wendall's leg, or he could pursue and continue the assault. Only one person can fit across the stairs, though, so you can't really team up on him hand-to-hand while he's up there.

Thanks.
I'll hold off on Lug's action until we find out who is asleep.

"Damn the gods, Lug! What are you doing?" yells Varas. The rangy thief shoots up the stairs, trying to get ahead of Lug so he doesn't kill Wendall. "Sorry, Wendall! I didn't know he was going to do this!"
He's also curious about the noise upstairs.
