ARENA ATTENDANT

The attendant calculates all of the bets and takes the coinage from the combatants. He places the money in a safe under the countertop and tells the combatants they have 1 hour to prepare for their team fight. He hands each of them a Green sash to be worn as their teams color designator. All members of the team must wear this sash or they will be disqualified when entering the arena and asked to leave.

Ariknoq nods at the attendant. "Do we know our challengers?"
I assume we wait and pray before putting bets in and get the one hour deadline? So the spells are back?

Thurgot

lowers one eyebrow, relaxes eyelids and chills out at the cool idea that he has just been given, all for himself, 1000 GP to play with at the betting counter without any demands for profit sharing.

:D :D :D

When Thurgot didn't answer, Ulfang took back his sack of gold. A pity. This pointless battle had little profit in it to start. Now even less so.
"I value my neck at a higher price than this," he muttered as he tied on his green belt and readied for battle.

ARENA ATTENDANT

" From what I have been told it's to be a team of Duergar Mercenaries that were captured trying to raid our city. They have won five such team fights already and from my understanding only need to win one more bout in order to win their freedom. Should be a tricky fight indeed. But then again the arena council members choose the match-ups not me. They could change their minds and throw almost anything at you guys!"

Thurgot

winks at Ulfang: "But the Bless is on me!". And in a blink, he changes his mind about the match, as Northerners are wont to do: "I will join my brethren on the battlefield!" and attempts to jump in (probably in disregard of protocol, but hey, it's worth a try)

Hey, Grognard, I forgot to mention, Barbarian First Aid gives you back a hit point on the spot, and then doubles your natural daily healing rate for the remaining damage.

Five Minutes to Fight / arena

Ariknoq steps forward to the arena gate with the others. "It is time, let us cast in preparation," he says.

The fighter-cleric intones words to Qord, weaves divine symbols in the air, and with burning incense traces a circle in the air around him.
- Dust Devil (8 round duration) and Protection from Evil (24 round duration) spells cast.
- Thanks for the first aid Inferno.

CRIX'S CUTTHROATS

CRIX
Takes the lead position and orders the casters to spell the party.
" Casters weave your protective magic's and let us slaughter these pretenders like cattle."

IVAR
Ivar readies his Light crossbow and takes aim at the group next to Crix
" Blood will spill and the dark gods will get their fill "

MORGOL
Takes position and casts withdraw. Once in withdraw he casts two prayers.

BRILMARA
Takes her position and casts withdraw. Once in withdraw she casts two prayers and Protection from good 10' radius.

Crix's Cutthroats are now in a diamond formation 240' away from the party on the other side of the arena. They all now have +4 Prayers and Protection from good 10' radius.

It is now The Company of the Jagged roses Turn

Good idea. Synth, how many actions does it take to reach them on foot at a range of 240'? Thanks.

Since all party members are human sized. If they dont move. It would take the grouptwo full movement's to reach them. Standard human sized character is 12" on the board per round ,which equates to 120' in the game world. Duergar can only move 9" on the board per round which equates to 90' in the game world. Its due to there smaller stature. The party has the edge when it comes to movement.

Also, have any of us ever head of a Duergar before?

They moved but only slightly taking up a diamond shaped formation as they entered the arena. Duergar are vaguely known by the group. Each of you have heard tales of them making raids on the surface at night. But not much is known about they except that they are evil and cruel hearted.
