Thug and Gong - Round Seven

Morik and the thug pace around each other, each jabbing with pole and sword, only to be blocked by the other. The thief and assassin seem equally matched!

Morik takes a mighty swing with his broad sword again generally trying to disarm the man not kill him. "We sure have been evenly matched here haven't we."

To Hit Broad Sword[1d20] = 17 S/M Dmg[2d4] = 5 L Dmg[1d6 +1] = 2+1 = 3

Thug and Gong - Round Ten

The thief and assassin duel on. Perhaps they are getting tired, as each again gets through his opponent's defenses. Morik lands a blow on the thug's right shoulder, only to feel a thwack on his own left shoulder from the pole.

Morik "Must we really continue with this? We aren't getting anywhere really. Shall we take a moments break maybe take a breather and a drink? What say you? Or do you really like to dual on like this?" said while defending.

Edit: adding roll if you need one To Hit Broad Sword[1d20] = 12 S/M Dmg[2d4] = 3 L Dmg[1d6 +1] = 3+1 = 4

Thug and Gong - Round 11

The thug just smiles grimly and presses forward. Morik snakes his sword in, gashing the assassin again. He gets a luck strike in on Morik's leg. But the thug seems weak now.

Morik with the man knocked out takes the mans staff. Walks to the gong and looks for a way to ring the gong. Is there a lock on the bars? If so I stall attempt a pick locks. If the ringing of the gong is simple enough he will just ring it.

Morik will search the thug for a key and then search the room for a key.

The cage lock eludes Morik's finagling and stays secure. The bars are an inch apart. The thief searches the thug and room but finds no key.

Morik "Blasted day this is turning out to be." looking sourly at the gong and the pain in the butt bars he tries to see if anything can even fit through the bars to ring the cursed gong. If not then he will give the lock another go.

This is really annoying.... Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 93

Morik searches his inventory of equipment. The bars are one inch apart; the gong 16 inches from the bars. He slides his dagger through, but it only goes 12 inches before its width and the hilt stop it. Morik looks through his thieves tools, takes his longest pick, some wires to wrap it around his dagger tip, and after several minutes of trying manages to get an appreciable gong.

With that sound, Morick hears the door in the east wall click like a lock has been unlocked.

Morik gathers up all of his items seats the thug back in the chair and heads through the door that is now unlocked. He proceeds carefully and cautiously.

Morik opens the door and sees a 10' shaft down. Iron rungs in the side form a ladder.

Morik prods the "ladder" with the staff to check that it is secure. Then puts the staff back between his back and backpack and attempts to climb down the ladder once it is tested and appears to be safe. Hmm wait 10' shaft 10' pole hmm attempt to get over the shaft or is there anything here but the shaft in the room?
