Nods his head in approval to Thrydwulf "by all means, go ahead. I have no intentions of trying any food or drink here, not after having that brush in with the bird lizard." said the fighter. Talmond continues searching the room for anything useful.

Vinwrick Greenbottle
Having checked out the kitchen and beginning to get a little concerned that the rattling might be caused by something more than what is happening above them, the ranger draws a sword. I don't trust anything in this damned building. Everytime it seems there is nothing in the room, something really is there. He will move closer to where the rattling occurred, trying to hear some sort of noise or see something move that shouldn't to betray the presence of some invisible intruder.
Gulnar and Thrydwulf begin replenishing their supplies, collecting any discovered spices and fine cutlery as they discover it. Thrydwulf then moves to refill his growlers with the dark ale Talmond noticed first. "By all means, go ahead,"Talmond says to Thrydwulf. "I have no intentions of trying any food or drink here; not after having that brush in with the bird lizard." he adds, before stepping aside and clearing access to the small barrel atop the table. The barbarian takes a sip first, and determines the dark ale to be safe, and of high quality.
Talmond, now free to continue exploring, fails to find anything other than normal kitchen supplies. Albeit, supplies of high-quality.
A little concerned that the rattling might be caused by something more than what is happening above them, the Vinwrick draws a sword. "I don't trust anything in this damned building. Every time it seems there is nothing in the room, something really is there. " he grumbles, slowly moving closer to the source of the sound -- the pots, and large spoons, resting atop the benches along the right wall.
They rattle again as the halfling approaches.
Just the implements, not the bench itself.
Outside, Tova will move to stand guard at the door at the end of the hallway while Luthar keeps watch over Rumple.

Kitchen
Outside, in the hallway, Tova moves to the end of the hall and listens at the door likely leading to the continuation of the stairwell. No noise is evident opposite the door, but the previously faint sounds of "activity" overhead seem to travel more clearly through the stairwell. Definitely goblins going about their goblin activities. He believes he hears some laughter, and some argument.
Back in the room, Talmon examines the high-quality kitchen supplies and, determining them to have some value, begins to back them into his back for possible sale or trade in the future.
Sword still drawn, the halfling approaches the occasionally rattling pots, which are covered. Using his free hand, the halfling reaches to remove the nearest lid when --
-- four of the pots and two meat cleavers animate and rise off the bench!

As Thrydwulf also scoops up fine cutlery, he is prepared for the felonious flatware's eventual treachery in this strangely mystical place.
"Hey!" he chastizes the pretentious pots, "Halflings are friends, not food!" He steps up and swings his cleaver, still in-hand, to interpose its path, then grabs the handle of the offending implement with his off-hand, forcing it to hold still.
(I'll be camping from now through Monday in the mountains; I expect to next be able to post Tuesday. If the scene advances over the weekend, he intends to shove the grappled implement back into its lidded-pot confinement and you can roll for him.)

Vinwrick Greenbottle
Alert for just such a shenanigan, Vinwrick is quick with his blade. Stabbing at a cleaver, he immediately draws his other sword and follows up the first attack, targeting a pot if the cleaver is no longer animated.
Round 1
Alert for just such a shenanigan, Vinwrick quickly bats one of the cleavers with his primary short sword, sending it clanging to the ground... where it returns to an inanimate state. His follow-up attack, however, against one of the flying pots, is less successful.
Seeing the collection of pots, pans, and two large cleavers begin to swirl around, Talmond draws his sword and readies his shield defensively, carefully eyeing a pan that appears to be drifting in his direction.
"Hey!"Thrydwulf chastizes the pretentious pots. "Halflings are friends, not food!" he continues, stepping up and swinging the cleaver he previously picked up against a pan floating in his vicinity. The solid contact knocks the animated pan against the wall, causing it to tumble to the floor where it remains unmoving. Finally able to put his grappling capabilities on display, the barbarian reaches out and deftly grabs the wooden handle of a nearby floating cleaver with his offhand, turning him into a cleaving dual-wielder!
"Leave it to the halfling to find the magical dishware," Gulnur quips from the doorway, ready to defend himself against any animated objects that float in his direction.

If the cleaver has acquiesced to his grip, he will try to shove it under a heavy object (free object interaction) and grab the other knife, too. Grapple (bonus action) [1d20+6]=8+6=14
If his held-knife still shows sign of animated resistance, he will maintain a grip on it instead to keep it out of the fight.
"You know, would be nice to have these things cut the potatoes and carrots for me. You think there's a magic word if we keep 'em? Abraca-carrot-chopping?" The large man continues to banter casually as he defends himself from the kitchen tools.
