Wyntar quietly takes on the Hobgoblins...he uses his stave as a weapon against the pair by whacking them with it.

I think Dram forgot about my game again so, I took the liberty of posting for him.

Never Split the Party.........In Thirds
Round 7

In the Foyer: (C10)
Since he is still unable to hear anything, Wyntar does not back down from the much weaker monsters. He soon proves why arcane casters shouldn't be allowed to use dangerous weapons. The hobgoblins take advantage of their superior numbers by attacking the wizard simultaneously. Wyntar blocks one attack with his staff but gets clipped in the leg by the other spear point. 2 dam

In the Main Hall: (C6)
Mira flees from the oncoming zombies and begins climbing Halo's rope that leads up to the balcony. Trotter and Xano rush over and finish off the last of the dead villagers, leaving no more enemies in here to fight that they can see.

In the Filthy Barracks: (C13)
Halo and Blodget chase the possessed cloud giant, Lachlan through the misty doorway and into another room that was clearly used to house several more snow demon troops. The place is a disaster and everything in it lies in ruin. The stinking cloud of vapors around the giant seems to dissipate in the doors magical mist. The tiny pair continue to try to subdue the giant who is easily more than four times their size. Again their blows make good contact, but they seem to do nothing in the way of actual damage to the behemoth.

They do get the fleeing monsters attention however and he seems to prefer these new odds of only one shiny halfling with a hard to see sidekick against a 20 foot tall cloud giant. He turns around and suddenly seems a bit more energetic. He lifts his huge leg and stomps down at the paladin, crushing him into the floor. 11 dam He kicks his foot and Halo slides across the cloudy material, back towards the misty doorway.

Actions!
1 square = 20 feet
The balcony (above C6) is 50 feet up from the first floor.

Halo will attack the giant normally with his sunblade. Can we see why the giant isn't injured by the subdual damage, if it works on massive scaled dragons ... Are the blades connecting with the Giant's skin or warded from it by some magic can we see?

Sunblade [1d20+7] = 16+7 = 23 : [2d8+10] = 15+10 = 25 : Sunblade [1d20+7] = 10+7 = 17 : [2d8+10] = 14+10 = 24

Blodget, halfling thief:

Having no idea why the giant might be immune to swords, the foolish young hobbit continues backstabbing the giant while the monster is focused on Halo. Blodget desperately tries to help his hero before he meets the same fate as kind Sir Harold!

Blodget Shortsword: [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11, Damage: S/M: [1d6+2] = 3+2 = 5, Damage: L: [1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8
From behind, it's a 16 to hit, with up to 72 damage if it's a backstab.

Wyntar attempts another swing of his staff at the pair of hobgoblins, unfortunately for him his wounded leg is proving to be more painful than expected and he misses badly, again!

Against the Giant
Round 8

Morgi continues his cat and mouse game outside as he lets loose another bolt of lightning, killing one of the three manticore. He then begins to look for an opportunity to get into the fray and contribute....

Mira struggles to climb up the 50 feet of rope with her limited strength. About halfway up she realizes that the balcony is now empty other than her own image still standing idle at the top. Trotter also begins to climb up while Xano waits down below for her turn on the rope.

Halo gets himself up in time to see the giant turn and head for the stairway tower. He rushes in to attack again, but the giant moves nearly twice his speed and gets away easily. Blodget is able to get an attack in on the now fleeing giant but his swing falls a bit short of the mark. (no backstab) The giant rushes down the enormous stairs, quickly pulling away from the hobbits who need to use the much smaller servant stairway. You fools think you can stop me!?! I will kill every one of you! Just like my minions killed your flying friend on the broomstick outside! Muahaha! The booming voice rings through the confines of the tower, hurting your ears as it does so.

Wyntar finds himself in a serious challenge fighting against such impossible odds. His staff seems good for blocking, but not so much for bashing. He deflects one spear thrust again and misses badly with his counter, allowing another successful hit from the other monster. 4 dam He wonders if he might be outmatched here when he begins to feel the floor trembling underneath him. Still unable to hear anything, he thinks he feels crashing footsteps coming from the direction of the stairway tower. They seem to be coming closer.

Actions!

Wyntar 16/40
Mira 30/32
Morgi 19/49
Blodget 33/56
Halo 17/49
Trotter 16/43
Xano 24/39

Maybe this will help Hotgob:

Halo moves after the fast moving giant despite his severely injured state. If he hasn't used his healing touch yet he lays hands upon himself first. If he already has he whispers a prayer to Pelor and runs as fast as he can after the fleeing giant.

Where is Wyntar down below or up above? If Wyntar is down below, Xano would not leave Wyntar to fight 2 Hobgoblins by himself.

Against the Giant
Round 9

The party members scatter even further throughout this castle as Blodget and Halo chase the cloud giant down the tower stairs. As suspected, Wyntar sees the form of the giant appear in the doorway as he hurriedly passes by. The sight of the deadly creature is enough to knock the mage's attack off balance yet again. Fortunately for the outnumbered wizard, the giant bellows something out to the hobgoblins as he passes by the room, easily catching their attention. They grunt too and quickly follow behind him instead of attacking Wyntar again. The wizard hears none of this of course, but he is relieved to see the three of them rushing further down the stairs. He soon sees the two halflings, also running quickly past his door, still chasing the giant.

Mira gives up on the rope climbing about half way up, realizing her error a little too late. She begins climbing back down, forcing Trotter to do the same. They reunite with Xano on the floor again. The trio stare wide eyed at each other as they decide their next move.

Halo presses onwards after the fleeing giant, motioning for Wyntar to follow. If the hobgoblins get close in their retreat he will stab at one.
