Chapter One - Into the Shadows

The gnoll sidles his way around the table toward Awwrak, his eyes and ears focused on the newcomers at the other table...though his eyes do occasionally dart toward the leavings of the rabbit on the other's plate.

[Radrabbit]

The crowd is hushed by the warforge's challenge.
The two men at the table with the young brown robed man jump up, their hands going to their belts.

[Enoch]

Kura growls as he drops to a half-crouch, his right hand reaching for the oliphaunt-femur maul on his back, but his lips split into a happy grin. The aarakora's meal that so entranced him a moment before seems totally forgotten.

He looks up at the warforged with anticipation. "We can eat them? I'm hungry."

Intimidation: [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8

Lothien stands and swiftly but quietly begins moving toward 3 of 4's left hand side, towards a position flanking the two robed men, at spellcasting range.

Mechanics within the warforge begin to wind up to life. State your names and purpose.... 3 seconds.

Awwrak remains seated at the table perfectly still, his piercing stare watching.

Rodrigo sighs heavily and rises slowly from his chair, hands spread wide. "Gentlemen, please. There is no need for this. We can all be civilized here, or I imagine our rather large host can fling us bodily from the room. Yes?" He pulls a grin and motions to Einar.

"We come but to enjoy your food, drink your wine, and make merry with our companions, Señor. I am afraid this is all some sort of mistake." He tilts his head at 3of4. "My friend...relax. We've only just arrived. At least let us eat before bloodshed, huh?"

If anything I say/do calls for a roll, let me know and I'll do so and edit it in.

Lothien is glad to hear Rodrigo's peaceful words, after seeing and hearing 3of4 wind up into an kind of combat mode. Thinks: "Wait, strange and hard to fathom metal man, we don't know what this is about at all, who's in the wrong or right of the three of them...! You might be going the wrong way." Quick readies a spell, in case old 3of4 starts slowly wading into a fight. "I'm no wizard or townie, but I'll try to this one if I have to and I can-- Sleep." Continues quietly circling behind the two robed figures. Sorry madam. Sorry sir.

[Enoch]

With a low growl, Kura begins edging around the table, his eyes fixed on the two newcomers as his mohawk-like hacks raise.

Einar steps from around the bar, "Calm yourselves! Anyone draws steel and they will spend the night in jail!"
He turns to a serving girl, who quickly disappears into the kitchen.

[Enoch]

At Einar's words, Kura turns his head to examine the bone weapon he's laid his hand on. He appears to be deep in serious thought as to the meaning of those words. He looks to Einar for clarification.

Sade sits in her chair, waiting to see how things play out.

Qelnaar shook his head for what must have been the umpteenth time today. He had once again lost sight of Kura the Impatient, he seemed to take no heed to the fact he was a gnoll and no interest to the fact that Qelnaar was a dragonborn, two races the locals took notice of with no joy what-so-ever. Tugging the hood of his cloak to ensure as little of his face was visible as possible, he the pulled his cloak about him tighter as well to keep his scales from showing. Looking up, the sign of the Orc's Head tavern drew his attention. Finally, he thought to himself. I'm sure Kura is already inside and devouring a plate or two. His step a tad more lightened, Qelnaar proceeded to enter the tavern.

Not again!, Qelnaar thinks to himself. "Good barkeep, I assure I am not here to make trouble. I only seek food and companions of mine who were supposed to meet me here."

Qelnaar just walked in and thinks he's the reason behind the disturbance. It will be fun to watch this all play out.

I'm amazed too, but Kura's not the one.

Momentarily distracted by his first-ever sight of an in-person dragonborn, Lothien quietly says, "Brother Three of Four, don't attack these men. The owner of this place has forbidden violence here. As is his right."

3of4 is just about to lunge forward through the table before he stops and turns his head, and swivels his eyes, keeping one at the the presumed assassins and the other at Lothien. Inquiry. The owner's right to forbid conflict override presumption of risk to one's own safty?
