Ch. 2: Return to Big Stone Mountain!
Re: Ch. 2: Return to Big Stone Mountain!
Although the silver hammer, seemingly untouched in a room that's otherwise looted, says "trap" is clearly as if the words had been carved into the hammer in big bold runes, Dax's impatience and curiosity finally get the better of him. "Useless rogues," he says, as he reaches out and grabs the hammer. Cy is only the first of Dax's companions to dive for cover.
As soon as Dax lifts the hammer from the anvil, the doors to the chapel slam shut. A sheet solid iron falls from the head panel above the doors. It lands with a "thud," blocking the doors—and your exit—completely.

"Well, guess that's that. One could always hope appealing to the gods might help out." Iliro will move over to one side of the door and tell Dax "Put it back, maybe your gods will be nice to us."

Dax puts the hammer back.

Dax puts the hammer back. The metal sheet slowly cranks back up into the panel above the doors.

Dax nods his head "Ya never know, could be handy."

Cy
"Well that could be useful after all. Thank you for finding that Dax. Does it look like it could be replaced by something of equal weight?" Cy stands up, not at all embarrassed by diving for cover. "Well shall we move on?" Cy heads out of the room and inspects the unopened door leading northeast, listening for any sounds on the other side.

Dax and Grond note that being able to seal themselves inside the room might actually come in handy. Filing that away for the future, they resume exploring this level, starting with the eastern door in the north wall of the main hall. Stepping out into the main hall from the naturally lit chapel (well, "natually" with the help of some good old fashioned clever dwarven engineering), you realize all your light sources have gone out.
I'll assume someone lights a torch or a lantern. Please tell me who, though.
Cy inspects the door and listens. The door is fashioned of solid dark wood, engraved with various symbols Dax recognizes as representing authority. Cy hears nothing through the door.

Re: Ch. 2: Return to Big Stone Mountain!
Illiro opens the door into a large room that reaches 50' to the left and 30' across from the door. The only other exit is a door at the far end of the left wall.
The room itself seems to have been a private office or audience chamber. A large, carved stone table sits off to one side of the room. A fireplace—now cold and empty, bereft even of ashes—dominates middle of the northern wall. On either of the fireplace hang threadbare and rotten tapestries, faded beyond any hope of deciphering the noble deeds they once memorialized.
Aside from the broken and shattered furniture that lies scattered about, the room appears to be empty.
