Chaka checks the rope around his waist. He brings his own coil of rope along with him as he slowly starts across the bridge.

He looks at Arto before he departs. "See! Metal rope strong! No need to be afraid! Just don't look down!"

With that, he slowly and as evenly as possible, starts walking across the bridge, trying hard not to touch the cable with his hands if he can. Once he reaches the half way point, or the end of the rope, whichever comes first, he stops to tie his rope to the end of the first rope, essentially doubling its length. Tying his rope around his waist again, he finishes the trip across the bridge, securing the end of the rope to anything he can find on the other side.

“We’re going to die out here, monkey-boy. I can feel it,” says Fiefo. Perhaps foolishly and definitely fatalistically, he does not secure himself to any rope. He walks carefully behind Chaka, looking at the skies and down below, prepared to run like hell for the nearest side should the bridge seem about to collapse...

Chaka wonders why the rat man is so hesitant to take the easy way across to the other side.

"Chaka no monkey! Chaka of the Ula-Thul!"

The Stone Forest of Towering Spires, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Two. Mid-afternoon. March 26th, 912 CY
Hot, humid, partly cloudy

Chaka the ape-boy slowly crosses the rope bridge with the verminous Fiefo LaBratt close on his heels.

It is a slow, painstaking effort. Chaka has a rope around his waist but the pessimistic rat-man crosses without a net, nervously watching in every direction for certain death.

But the unlikely pair makes it to the other side of the bottomless chasm alive.

A 100' rope now runs the length of the hanging bridge. LL Adrock holds one end, and Chaka ties the other end around a jagged stone spire on his side of the bridge.

Actions?! Marching order for the rest, please? And how much space between each crosser? Thanks.

once tied off LL ties the rope around his waist and crosses.

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

From 100 feet away, Chaka does his best to mime that the others should use the combined and now secured lifeline as a handhold, tying a short length of rope around it and attaching it to themselves in case of any danger. He looks at the rat-man and smiles.

"See? Chaka and Fifi not dead!"

He keeps a sharp eye out for any trouble on this side of the bridge while the others all cross.

Fiefo turns and glares at Chaka in shocked surprise for a split second, then bares his fangs menaci... wait, no... the ape-boy is almost certain that for a moment the rat-man was... smiling? It’s hard to tell.

With a short barking sound that may or may not be a chuckle, Fiefo turns away and draws out his short bow to cover the crossing of the others. ”Fifi,” he says shaking his head before distinctly resuming frowning again and scanning the open air above and below the bridge.

Maskelyn

The gnome crosses in the middle of the party, shivering as he makes his way across the gap. When he reaches the other side, he drops to his knees- facing away from the bridge to help provide security.

He says a short prayer to Bugs in gratitude. Watch dat foist step, doc! It's a lulu!

She will cross last, gathering the rope as she goes. They will no doubt need rope later.

Jeojand watches intently as the others cross, studying the integrity of the bridge and the rope lead they have just strung across.

He offers to go last, even after Tullia. "As a cat-man and scientist of the arcane arts, I am better equipped to survive a fall than any of you. I should go last, when the bridge is presumably at its weakest and at its most dangerous."

Maskelyn
As he collects himself, Maskelyn looks closely at the cables of the bridge. Are they new- ish? Or are they Ancient's work?

That will be fine, Jeojand. Bring the rope along. Take care. She proceeds across the bridge, and mostly manages to avoid looking down.

The Stone Forest of Towering Spires, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Two. Mid-afternoon. March 26th, 912 CY
Hot, humid, partly cloudy

Deep within the bizarre stone forest of towering spires, Jeojand the feline sorcerer judges the rope bridge to be sound. Maskelyn the gnomish phantasist believes it to be no more than 15 years old.

Adrock the scholar-priest ties a line around his waist, tethers it to the rope lead, and carefully begins to traverse the cable bridge that spans the bottomless gorge.

He reaches the other side alive.

Ko-Nan the barbarian is the next to cross.

Halfway through his journey above the vast, deep chasm, the keen-eyed savage spies movement among the rocks far below! Then he hears a terrible, bloodcurdling sound!

"SKRAAAA!!!"

Immense flying reptilians, from before the time of Earth That Was, soar out from cliffs 200 feet below with frightful speed!

They cut through the air, rapidly ascending, talons flexing in bloodthirsty anticipation, sharp beaks screaming!

"SKRAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

Actions?!

Tullia

She takes the bow off of her back, pulls out an arrow from the quiver over her shoulder and prepares to shoot at one of the "birds."

Arrow#1:long bow/arrow-to hit [1d20] = 3

Arrow#2:long bow/arrow-to hit [1d20] = 18

If #2 hits: long bow/arrow damage [1d6] = 5

I think I did this right.

Ko-Nan stays where he is - sinking lower on the platform to have the hand rails provide some protection from attack.

Chaka tries to stay still, hiding behind a rock if possible, hoping the flying monsters will just fly away again.

He readies his sling, just in case one of the birds comes in close enough for him to attack it.

Attack with Sling [1d20+1] = 8+1 = 9 Damage [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2

Jeojand starts picking up rocks and hurling them as hard as he can at the flying beasts if they ever swoop into range, hoping to distract them from their prey on the bridge.

Throwing Rocks (+2 from DEX): [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22 // Damage? (not sure what to roll): [1d2] = 2 [1d3] = 1 [1d4] = 1
