Dungeon Master:

Yea, just waiting to see if any of the trap checkers will do their work before trying more keys....

"It appears that the traps above would activate if someone were to walk across. Right now, we do not know exactly how many traps there are, although we can find out." Stooping down, Procyon began to create a diagram using dust. "Assume the entrance of the tunnel is the reference point, which we will call point A. Our initial position will be 0 * 10^1 m. In this second diagram, we will roll a physical object down the corridor, tied by a rope we can use to pull it back. During the first 10s of motion, the object goes from Point A to a new point, Point B. After multiple tests we may assume that we have set off all traps that there could be set off.

Dungeon Master:

It appears Sorcerer Hissiz had amathophobia & had his men keep the Lair spotless...so Procyon would have to go back outside to draw his diagram !

Teladrin moves back and out of the hallway.

Arn moves back out of the hallway, as well.

'Well, we certainly have enough rope for Procyon's trick, but I'm hard pressed to find something we can roll down the corridor. If someone has a heavy backpack, we can toss that down the hall with a rope and drag it back over each tile, see if that sets off any traps.'

Jenks shakes himself out of his daydream (!)
"I would say, based on what we have seen, most likely the trigger of the darts is the turning of the key. However it is prudent to check the corridor anyway. Meanwhile I will see if I can disarm the door"

He sets to work:

Find/Remove Traps - 20% [1d100] = 10

Does this count as the Remove roll if we suspect the trigger is in the lock mechanism?

Dungeon Master:

Jenks has a look at the door, door frame & it's keyhole, & notes that there is an additional mechanism inside the lock, likely indicating that that is what triggered the trap !

In this case, removal, is to simply use the right key, in case there may be more darts, or a successful lock pick should do !

"Yes its as I thought - use the right key and we are ok. So perhaps only two should be in the corridor - one turning the key and one holding 2 shields over both heads. The rest can be ready to charge in once the portal is open. What say you?"

is the passage searched completely for traps now or do we need Jenks to have a check around?

Dungeon Master:

The only other find / remove trap check in this hallway was by Procyon on the ceiling when he rollled a 1d100 = 7%:

Thus Procyon sees that the 'ceiling is lined with holes in the area around the door', Arn tried to enter !

You however can not spot the trigger of this trap, itself. (Jenks just now did...it's inside the keyhole.)

Tuireann can also do the Find/Remove Traps checks.

I believe Tuireann is currently outside making sure the animals are okay.

Arn says, 'That sounds like a good enough idea: if Jenks can't disarm the trap, we should have one turning the key and another holding something above to keep the darts off if they trigger again.' He stops to think and looks back toward the door leading to the entrance, 'I wonder if it's possible to take one of these doors off of its hinges and hoist that above us.' He checks the door to see if it can easily be taken off the hinges and carried overheard.

Dungeon Master:

The closest regular which is like all the other regular doors down here are made in such a way that the door jamb hinges, would be on the inside instead of the normal, facing outwards, on the side the door swings inward.

I would guess there is space to be able to tap out the pins on the nearest regular door.

How long would it take to do that, and how many of us would it take to hold the door overhead while someone used the keys?

Dungeon Master:

I would guess a half hour?

I guess 3 of your strongest holding it up from under while the key user crouches down & tries the rest of the keys.

Arn examines the hinges of the heavy door, ruffling his moustache like a wave across his upper lip. 'This door looks like it could be unhinged in thirty minutes or so, but it would be heavy enough that it would take three to hold it aloft, providing some shelter from the traps. Or we could have someone stand in the doorway holding a couple of shields up. I have little experience in this sort of thing, I prefer the old fashioned, steel-on-bone escapades of the sort we get back home. Thoughts, anyone?'

The Doctor says, "What if the darts come from the Wall or a pit opens up? Are we sure the trap is only from the ceiling? If so shields might work if the force of the dart is not strong enough to pierce through the shields. The most healthy of us can try the keys while those with shields cover them?"

'That is a good point, Doctor. Jenks only spotted holes in the ceiling, but I suppose that doesn't mean that there couldn't be other traps as well. Perhaps it would be most prudent to move ahead as we are,' says Arn. He readies his shield, raising it above his head, and cautiously steps out to where they were attacked by the trap. He checks to see if his shield covers enough surface area to protect him and perhaps another person from any more darts that might fall from the ceiling.

Cayley

The priestess sighs, "I'm not going to die of old age waiting for someone to try the door. Hand me the keys." Assuming they are handed over, "Which one did we try first?"

She will advance to the locked door, My god why did you make these men so... Assuming all the keys are the same size, she will select the next one. If the keys are different sizes she will try to match the size of the key with the key hole. Cayley will hold up the key she intends to try in the door so the others can see it. "Trying this one. Stand back."

She will crouch down trying to make herself as small as possible and hold her shield over her. Then she will put her chosen key into the lock, say a quick prayer, give the key a turn, and pull her hand back under cover.

The Doctor waits outside the corridor and hugs the right wall just peeking around the frame to watch things develop.
