We did pick up 1300 gold in the steading last time we were there. If there's a pearl to be had, we have enough money to buy one.

We should probably split that gold, BTW, if we haven't spent it for something more useful. That's 185.7 per person who was here at the time, assuming Marcus gets part of Ethan's share. Or 171.4 each if we spend 100 on a pearl. Or, to make the calculations easy, everyone gets a 100 gp "dividend" and we leave the other 600 in the "common fund" for expenses like pearls and healing potions.

Doh! There's also an 8 hour loss of constitution thing. What are the odds of freshwater pearls near the water entrance?

IIRC, Magnus ignores some of the more punitive parts of the btb Identify spell. The material component and long casting time are still in place, but the constitution loss and other "gotchas" are not.

It looks like the Maester has a supply of pearls, or had one in the past, anyway:

Antheris

Antheris takes an even longer look at Niamah, apparently sizing her and her statements up.
"I, for one, am impressed with your skills. But since my own skin, and that of all of us, may hang on your stealth in scouting - which I am impressed you are willing to take on - I hope you are willing to use my cloak in addition to your skills. It is Valyerian and I believe will increase even your abilities to remain unseen." With that Antheris offers Niamah the cloak that he shrugged off a few minutes before.

He pauses, looking at all gathered, and continues, "After some of us rescued good Lorath here, Lorath gave us the counterparts to that cloak, Valyerian boots that ensure you step with silence. I believe Vorsyin the magic-user wears them now, and since they are of greater worth to all on our scout, I ask that he allow you to wear them."

Gaerys watches as the Valyrian cloak that he couldn't get in trade is given to the new woman. He mutters something under his breath and sharpens his axe.

Ummm I don't know what is going on here but I believe the Druid offered to let her "use" it :)

Niamah nods "A woman is honored you would allow her to use such an item, she will return it when the task is completed."

No worries. Have we mentioned that Gaerys has a charisma of 6? ;)

On that note...move on to the (soon-to-be-opened) action thread.
