Re: Characters
Pulp, mind if I switch that? Somehow I love the idea of a dwarf with an axe as big as he is, and shields are for pansies. So if you're cool with it I'll take:Pulpatoon wrote:Like all respectable dwarves, you bear the weapon of your fathers. What is it?
A battle axe bearing golden runes.
Your Weapon Specialization class ability is with the Battle Axe.

Re: Characters (Generation)
Looks like I just need to do some last minute shopping to complete my character.
I have just a few gaps in Simon's history to fill in, as well.
When Simon was 12, the village of Herebury was struck hard by a deadly pandemic. It spread similarly to the flu, and at first the only cases that became fatal were with the very young or very old. But as time passed on and more people became afflicted, even healthy adults were unable to recover. Tom Baker and his son, Jak, Goody Willow, Old Farmer Hobb, and the blacksmith's wife, Angelica were all early victims of the disease. The local barber-surgeon and apothecary were unable to help, and although Hag Sal had never gotten sick herself, she avoided contact with most villagers. When nearly half the village was sick and fearing for their lives, the old gods spoke to Simon, the blacksmith's son, in a dream. The next day he recruited the local drugdealer woodsman, Smokey, to help him gather the herbs he would need to make a healing draught. From the clues in his dream, he only knew the appearance of the plants he needed, but Smokey knew the names as soon as they were picked out; Wild hyssop, Bearberry leaves, star grass, and Green dragon root from near the holy spring. The concoction they made seemed to work, and soon the rest of the village would take part in collecting the herbs. Simon never took credit for his part, instead giving all honor to the old gods who had showed him the way.

Re: Characters (Generation)
Bürd's a bit different, since he mostly didn't grow up in Herebury, so here's his back back story…
Bürd is the son of the great Dwarven Ironlord Dürgo Goblinhew of Anvil Peak Holdfast. Despite being raised on a steady diet of axes and armour, to follow in his imposing father's footsteps, Bürd's temperament was more thoughtful and curious than most Dwarflings. His grandmother Ilswitha encouraged this, and gave Bürd his first runestone. He spent increasingly more time at her side as he grew, memorising the ancient stories of his people and the wider world, and learning the fundamentals of rune carving.
None were surprised when, the day after his Stonemade, the dwarven coming of age of ceremony, he decided to go out and see the wide world for himself. His father blessed him with the name "Makelucky", his uncle Fuldäg gave him a well wrought greataxe, his grandmother pressed a silver key in his hand with the words, "you'll know when you'll need this m'boy," and off he went. The elder dwarves retired to share ale and stories of their own "wild tenyear", a common dalliance among young dwarves, before returning home as all respectable dwarves do.
Knowing many tales, but having few friends below the mountains, Bürd sought out Barton, a human who had fought beside Ironlord Dürgo in the Goblin Wars. Barton was a well respected Dwarf-friend, and had spent a year after the war in Anvil Peak, and had often sparred with young Bürd and told him of his home. Upon finding Herebury, Bürd was saddened to hear of Barton's death, but grew fond of his son Jonas and the boy's friends. He decided to make Herebury his home for a while, and see what fortune would bring...

Re: Characters (Generation)
I can never get to a computer during the weekend so I get to come back to like 4 pages lol. Just read through them all and I think I am down what three rolls? two 6's and a 7?
[1d6] = 6
[1d6] = 2
[1d7] = 4
[1d6] = 6
[1d6] = 2
[1d7] = 4
Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
Re: Characters (Generation)
MW, the last 3 rolls are all d6, so maybe reroll the last one?

Re: Characters (Generation)
Let me try again on that weapon specialization roll.
[1d6] = 3
Does the Knack count as my first level one or as an extra?
So I am making a secret for myself that Jonas knows as well another location?

You may post the secret publicly, or pm it to zebediah and myself.
And, yeah, Staff is maybe not the most satisfying Weapon Spesh to have. Choose among the following: Spear, Longsword, Axe, or Bow.
Spear shows up twice, so if you choose that, say "heads or tails," to see which spear option you get.
Also, let me know what you do with that dragon scale you received.

Let's say the scale is about the size of the span of your widespread hand, and quite sturdy. You could use it to hammer a nail into a board, if you wanted to. It's probably a relic from that kobold attack a couple generations ago, kept in the Castle, and awarded to you on some glorious occasion.

hmm... I can't really decide on what to do with it. So I suppose Marcus wears it under his clothes so that it can protect his heart.

Alright, if everyone is good with where their characters ended, I'll lock up this thread.
Tomorrow, I'll lock the Village thread. Then, I'll make my final edit on the results and present the "official" village in a new thread. I expect to make a few changes, but nothing to big, just making sure the pieces all fit together.
Then we'll get started on the actual adventure!
