Arranging for Alex's bout, the brewer tells the group to come back just after sundown- when the festivities and fisticuffs will begin. Sizing the opportunist up, Fulbrick assures Alex that he will find a man of suitable size, but mentions that the foreigner "looks like he can handle his self."'

After shaking Alex's hand to seal the deal, the brewer leads Isolde, Sarvane and Ryker to a large trunk near the back. After opening the enormous chest Fulbrick extracts a faded, well-used buff jerkin. Instructing Isolde to put it on, the fighting men comment that it is too large and needs to be trimmed down and re-sewn, else it will interfere with her movement. Hearing that the woman wants to engage Jonlin Oakesleaf or one of the other mountaineers to do the tooling, Fulbrick nods his head in agreement.

"He'd likely do a fair job," the brewer says.

Paying a half-dozen silver pieces for the jerkin, Isolde and the others head to the tailor's shop and pick up her new clothes. With little else to do, they head back to the Silver Tankard and await sundown.
