I don't know if it's best to discuss some ideas & tactics here, or in OOC but I'll start here:

1. Wes (and Tlachga) can cast Snare (or whatever it's called - loop of rope catches and traps a limb.) There are places to tie off the snares, we could place several around the cave and cave mouth to see if we can catch us a dragon!

2. Wes has Oil of Slipperiness. He can spread that around an area to increase the chance of the dragon sliding into a snare.

3. As mentioned before, we could build snowholes outside to hide in when the dragon comes out. Better still, dummy snowholes with badly covered trails in the snow leading to them. Then cast Pass Without Trace to move to other less obvious snowholes. Hopefully the dragon will waste time attacking the wrong places.

4. The drop under the bridge is about 50'. It's possible to get under it.

5. The Druids have Stone Shape. Would weakening the bridge do any good? Create hiding spots in the rockface? (I did have one crazy idea of somebody hiding above the cave mouth and kicking a Snare down as the dragon exits, see if we can get it in a noose. But nobody is that crazy or suicidally brave are they? COUGH!*Cresty*COUGH! )

6. Anybody else got anything?

How about Tlatchga begins the call lightning spell. Wes spreads oil of slipperiness just outside the cave entrance and the readies a snare. Cresty (when calll lightning casting time is complete, receives a signal and does his best to taunt the dragon to leave the cave. Cresty runs out the cave with the dragon in full pursuit (please leave a section not covered by the oil that the fighter can run through. The fighter would also need to know the location of the snare so that he can avoid that as well). Everyone attacks from their various locations with spells and missile weapons. Cresty, once the dragon slips and has be blasted by the call lighting and the slip and snare trap have been completed, will turn back and attack with the dragon slayer broadsword.

Wes

This is what Wes is going to do to attempt. I'll try and keep it in order of actions.

1. Wes digs out a foxhole, making it as concealed as he can not sure if the snow is deep enough - he'll dig it next to/behind a large rock if he can. He keeps it within about 70' or so of the bridge.

2. He asks if anyone can lend him a coil of rope and would be willing to belay him as he climbs under the bridge.

3. He casts Pass Without Trace upon anyone who wants to go further into the cave. Duration 6 turns, leaves neither footprints or scent.

4. He smears the Oil of Slipperiness on a patch of floor in the cave mouth. 95% chance of slipping if stepped in.

5. If given assistance with belaying, he will climb under the bridge to run the rope around to create the Snare.. The spell camoflages the rope. He puts the head of the snare just behind the Oil. Also shows Cresty where the Snare is located.

6. Climbs back under the bridge and uses Stone Shape to create a ledge to stand on. Drives in some spikes to secure the second rope and makes himself safe on the ledge.

7. Casts Call Lightning.

8. Then Barkskin on himself once the action looks ready to kick off.

Spells cast: Pass WithoutTrace, Snare, Stone Shape, Call Lightning, Barkskin.

Tlatchga

Tlatchga will mirror Wes' actions. She has her own 50 feet of silk rope she can use to make a snare.

The Princess

She will help belay anyone needing a hand. If she can get a silence, she'll take the pass without trace spell.

Cresty

The fighter observes the location of the oil and the location of the snare, then waits for the signal from Wes. Once given he will move into the cave to taunt the dragon

Lerrick

The cleric finds a location where she can create a spot to hide. Once done the cleric cast silence on the Princess. Once all preparation are in place she motions the party to come together and then cast a bless spell. Once completed she moves into her hiding place and waits for the dragon comes forward. When she sees the dragon she will cast a light spell to blind the beast.

Elnaerel will cast a Glyph intended to damage the dragon (2 hp of electrical damage per level of the caster) right after the area where Wes has smeared the Oil of Sleeperiness, allowing some space for Cresty to enter. She then warns the others not to get near it.

She lends Wes a coil of rope.

She casts Protecion from Evil on herself.

She joins the rest and gets ready.

I am sorely trying to sort through all that.

Let's play this out round by round now so I don't miss any of the spells being cast and so all the durations will mesh.

The Dragons Lair
Whereabouts Unknown
???/Cold

Acting solely off noises they heard earlier, without even looking inside the chamber for conformation.......

Wes and Tlachtga dig out some snow holes near the bridge to hide in once the dragon appears. (is this where Lerrick and Elnaerel want to be as well?) He then smears a powerful magical Oil on the bridge save for a small area that the others remember well. They both cast Pass Without Trace, one on Cresty and the other on Princess, who can now move without leaving any prints or odor behind. Seeing this, Elnaerel casts a permanant warding Glyph upon the bridge, just past the area where the oil was spread.

With borrowed ropes, the senior druid climbs under the bridge, allowing both of them to create magical Snares just beyond the Oil, also permanant, hoping to bind the creature upon its arrival. Wes adds a Stone Shape to create a permanant ledge under there to secure himself even better. Then both druids cast another powerful spell to Call Lightning down from the oppressive black skies above.

In the meantime, Lerrick gathers the group together once everyone is prepared for this encounter. She casts a prayer of silence upon Cresty before casting a spell that will Bless each of them during the upcoming combat.

Princess and Cresty stand at the massive opening to this cave, ready to go in to investigate what they might find inside.

Actions?

Did I get everything in the correct order? Did I miss any actions?
If those remaining want to cast your buff spells this next round, that will leave 8 rounds before the CL are ready to strike.

The Princess

She nods at the others and grabs Cresty's hand leading him back to the cave, deftly avoiding all the traps and glyphs. Once at the bend they reached last time, she will try to calm her breathing and steady herself for the foolish act of entering a dragon's lair.

Tlachtga

Does the Druids natural Pass without Trace ability cover their tracks in the snow? Wondering if we need to cast the spell version to keep the hidy holes we are building hidden.

The natural Pass Without Trace ability that druids get at 3rd level doesn't cover snow. Only "overgrown areas (undergrowth of tangled thorns, briar patches, etc.) without leaving a discernable trail and at normal movement rate. So no scent cover either. :(

Wes just left a trail in the snow because it would lead the dragon to the hole to check it out. That would at least waste some of it's time.

Isn't the Princess supposed to have Silence on her as well? Or is she just staying close to Cresty?

I have always played it was the same as the spell, but Jernau35 brought it up before and it does read that way so was looking for how you were going with it. If we are going with it doesn't cover snow or scent She will cast Pass without Trace on herself when building her hiding spot.
