OOC Chatter
Level Up Time!
The party has hit Level 3! (Actually, missed you going to Level 2. Sorry! The fight with the Undead followed by the treasures you've just found pushed you up to Level 3.)
Okay, everyone needs to make 2 HP rolls and 1 Talent Roll. Priests and Wizards add more spells and everyone make note of Increases based on levels (Wpn Mastery, Backstab, etc).
Everyone will need to update their Character Sheet (or post), too.

Re: OOC Chatter
Are we getting a rest here, too?
Re: OOC Chatter
If you want to attempt a rest here you can. In this large area it will be Risky (1d6 check every 2 hours where 1 is an encounter), but in a smaller space where you can block the entrances it would only be Unsafe (1d6 every 3 hours).

Re: OOC Chatter
They posted a new class on April 1st. The Roustabout. I like it.
Re: OOC Chatter
I was going to post about seeing what's through the door. If we can't find a holy book I was going to use Wendel's spellbook.
I'm holding off until everyone has updated their characters.

Re: OOC Chatter
I think mine is all updated. Fergus and Ulfgar are pretty similar, looks like I was just luckier with his hp rolls.
Re: OOC Chatter
Yeah, not great rolls. That's part of the reason I decided to increase his Con with his talent roll.
Re: OOC Chatter
Wondering - are we using this?
Re: OOC Chatter
Looking at this more closely - we had enough skills/abilities to get everyone back to full HP. That means we should probably press on right now.
The main limitation is expended abilities. Naugrim can't Turn Undead or Bless Weapons (i.e. hit ghosts), and he and Willow both expended their main healing abilities. We did just find two potions, though, if there's an emergency and our Chiurgeon is very effective AFTER combat.
Thoughts? Is Wendell burnt out on anything?
Re: OOC Chatter
Wendel was very lucky with his rolls, touch-wood, so he's got all his spells available.

Re: OOC Chatter
...sounds like we push forward without a rest, then.
Re: OOC Chatter
Yup, I think we are good.
Re: OOC Chatter
Has Wendel's Mage Armour expired?
Also, the spells we chose going up a level - are they available now or do we need to learn them off the scrolls found at the altar?

Re: OOC Chatter
Yes, Mage Armor has expired, but I'll give Wendel a chance to recast it before going through that door if he wants.
Short answer:
When leveling up pick the new spells from the appropriate lists and add them to your inventory. No roll needed to learn them. You just have them. Same with Talents and HP.
Long explanation:
New Spells just because you leveled up gives me heartburn, always has, always will. My verisimilitude, says, you've got to find them or buy them and then learn them which takes both time and money. I would prefer doing Leveling Up for everyone where the PC's have to present themselves to a Training Hall and spend the XP (and money) to be trained in the new skills, spells, etc. That simply can't be done mid-dungeon crawl and I can't conveniently get you back to civilization where you could be trained now can I?
Okay, verisimilitude be damned! I'm going to say:
When a Spellcaster gets new spells through Leveling Up, they get them immediately and can add them to their inventory of spells. The same applies to HP and Talents!
Justification: The PC's have been working on spells, skills, various talents in the background all along and finally, at this point, they cross a threshold and suddenly have the ability to do the things they have been working on. They finally figure out the correct formulation for the new spells and get them down in their spellbook, they master new tricks and moves that give them more HP and sometimes discover new talents they didn't know they had.

Oh! I forgot! I was going to post this when you did your Leveling Up.
Everybody, add 1 Luck Token to your character sheets!
Here are my rules for using Luck Tokens:
Everybody, add 1 Luck Token to your character sheets!
Here are my rules for using Luck Tokens:
- You can use Luck Tokens to re-roll any roll you just made, but not a roll another player just made. This includes during combat, when casting a spell, making a check, or even while Leveling Up.
- You can give a Luck Token to another player, which they can use in the future.
- You can use a Luck Token force the DM to re-roll any roll they just made.
- You can save Luck Tokens up to a maximum of 3.
- You can expend Luck Tokens individually or all at once, as you wish.

Thanks, sheet updated.
Re: OOC Chatter
Thanks.
Just checking my understanding on something:
If Wendel casts protection from evil, that is a focus spell, so if he wants to cast magic missile he can, but he would have to make a roll to keep the focus spell going and well as the magic missile roll?

Re: OOC Chatter
Yes, that would be my understanding, that if you have a focus spell going you can keep it going even when casting another spell as long as you roll to do so. You can't have two focus spells up at the same time, though. If you cast a second you drop the first. Failing to make the roll, ends the focused spell, but doesn't remove it from your memory.
BTW, let me remind everyone that a Luck token can be used to re-roll any roll you make, including failing a spell or spell focus roll, or even a roll that was made with Advantage or Disadvantage.
