Phineus is from Greyhawk, the surrounding farms are his peasant hero community'.
He has come into the city to make his way in the arena world as a representative of his neighborhood.
came in second place yesterday (won 7 silver)
would recognize Benson Greystarr as the guy who came in first place. perhaps a lifelong friendly rival?
you are currently awaking in your boardinghouse room, just 2 blocks from the arena,
you will meet up with the group as they are leaving the paladin's room which happens to be in the same house.
you did not hear the ransacking that went on there, Your room is untouched ,
perhaps you didnt hear anything.because you were resting/sleeping from the whooping that Benson gave you.

Allowing Agrim the shaman or Fezuul the necromancer to attend to your wounds could be a potential tie in too. could be something as simple as a blackeyeshiner, a lump on the head and/or a body bruise.
too proud to accept the healing in view of the arena crowd.

You would also consider Talaseka a new friend. and would help once the party informs him that she has been attacked

Consider the roleplaying possibilites between Cobbler and Greystarr.....endless

Ill let you (and Greystarr) come up with stories for them.
Bonus xp (and character points) for the good ones

Greystarr, Cobbler and Lokvin
These three LOCAL humans are inclined to know a few things about the city.
As the three walk the streets, the conversation strays to geography and legend
