THE GAME - 01
Re: THE GAME - 01
Donn takes a look at the unopened crate, to see if there is any writing on it, and whether there is anything nearby (like a crowbar) to open it with.

Bella
Bella will look the crate over for traps. "Best let me check it before you try and open it up."

July 17: (+5.4 hours)
July 17: (+5.4 hours) Belladonna, Donnchad, Cynog, Oritran & Auréyien
Bella found no indications of traps on the unopened crate and Donn employed the rusty short sword as a crowbar on the wooden slats. In the process, Donn discovered two things …
First, the short sword had suffered only cosmetic damage from the rust and could be restored for about 7 SP worth of parts and another 7 SP of any competent smith’s time.
Second, the wood of the box and its contents had suffered from the dampness of the caves as much as the sword had. The box itself was rotted inside and broke open easily and spilled its contents of 120 rotting light crossbow quarrels onto the floor. (Bella's sharp Halfling eyes identified 8 of the quarrels as still in good condition.)
Cynog took the opportunity of the lull in action (and absence of Trollkin) to mention that he had been looting the fallen guards in the hall. He placed 2 PP, 12 GP, 7 EP, a slightly tarnished silver chain, and a Rhodochrosite into a small pile on the floor. He selected a Flail and Short Spear from the weapons, trying to decide which should replace the bone club he had been carrying. Seeing the quarrels, his eyes lit up for a moment, until he realized that they were rotted.
Sorry for the lag … work was in crisis mode for a while.

"From what we know we are outnumbered if we try to take them all at once, but there seem to be two factions... The chief and the witch doctor."

"Maybe we can work with the sub-chief to kill the chiefs group and then take out the sub-chief. Or we could deal with the witch-doctor so that the sub-chief can attack the chief, then we finish off whoever wins."

Re: THE GAME - 01
Check out the descriptions on the map … to help you plan.
… the witch doctor is in room 18, just past his bodyguards in room 17.

"We could go straight to the witch-doctor, (via #12) but we would have to deal with his guards and would leave the warriors at our backs if we make to much noise. Is it worth the risk?"

"Well, that's the case whichever option we choose. Unless we return to my people for reinforcements. What do you think, sir elf?" he looks at Auréyien.

EPILOGUE:
Ten years had passed since the Younglings had set out on their Finding. Tran had burned his spell scrolls and long ago abandoned the quest for Dwarven Fire Magic and the Maze. He no longer visited the Sacred Grove or practiced Druid magic. Tran had survived the quest to find himself, but his dreams had not survived. Tran returned to the little village and became a Tanner. Tanners start with death and make something useful …
I have taken my wife to the hospital. When they eventually release her … absent a miracle of God … I will take her home to slowly die. I need to learn how to bury a wife and raise a daughter alone. I have lost faith in light overcoming the darkness. I have no more magic in me. I think the time has come to retire the dice and stories, forever. Time to focus on burying the dead and surviving for my daughter.
This game is over.
Goodbye.
