Chapter 05: Round the bend
Chapter 05: Round the bend
The game continues here.
Heading 'southwards', Korin sees a quite long but 5' narrow corridor with possibly a door or two at the end of his torch flame range.
Richard
tries to feel what gnomes and dwarves can, but is unable to sense any elevational shifts in the corridor. He's only human, after all...
Everybody
can notice a musky canine smell in the corridor.

Thorelf
"Let's just pause here for a bit. This smell can't be good, I smell trouble. See what I did there?" he smiles.
"But seriously, what do we think is the quickest way out of this place? I'm sure we'll run into Krooda sooner or later if we continue this way, and I'm not sure I want to do that. We could always go back to the harbour and wait for a ship. Or go through that cave, if you remember? My auntie always used to say: 'when in doubt, get out of there."
thanx for the xp, noted

Eaton
Even though the ship is probably the best option I like this.
The is like the scent from home where we had the dogs we used for hunting.
I say we go along for now.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
The band of adventurers have come to a decision point.
Korin and Tiny want to go north.
Thorelf wants to stop for a moment.
Eaton wants to move on (presumably 'south' (?)), while
Richard stays in the middle.
Looking 'north' from the T-crossing, the corridor ends in another door after just 10 ft. So there are unexplored doors to the 'north' and to the 'south'.
To the 'east', is the room (17) recently vacated by the group.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Korin "Glad it makes ya think bout dogs but I'd rather not encounter gnolls. Now can we dun just run round, head north an check that there door?" the dwarf says with his usual bluster and tries turning back to go up the north passage of the T intersection to check the door and see what lies beyond it.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Richard lets Korin pass, and presumably also Tiny pass, and follows Korin and Tiny going north.

Thorelf
"Okay, so we're not going back to the cave then? What's your suggested plan? I think Krooda will be here soon with reinforcements."
Despite his comment, he will follow along as they explore the northern door.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Heading towards the 'northern' door in this corridor,
Korin
leads the way. The door in question is standing ajar, and our dwarven hero catches a glimpse of a straw-covered floor inside, with a definite smell of dogs (and other queasy overtones). No immediate sound detectable. This room is given the number: 23
Everyone roll 1d20, please.

Re: Chapter 05: Round the bend
Korin holds a finger up to his lips and shushes everyone for a second and listens a bit more "Hear that? Sounds like snoozin pups going North an Fightin pups if we dun go back South. I'd say we keep goin' North an keep quiet."

Korin
seems to have picked up some sounds behind them down the 'southern' part of the corridor*, but he and Tiny proceed to enter the straw-filled room [23] straight ahead. Measuring 15' by 15', with a 15' high ceiling, it might have been a supply room at some point. The floor is covered with straw and it really stinks of dog - now you know where that pong emanated from. But there are none in sight - the room is devoid of living entities.
*the T-crossing corridor we can call area 24 for reference.
