WW2 Supers d6: ARSENAL AND GEAR

Allied Weapons:

-1903 Springfield Bolt-Action Rifle

Image

The Springfield Bolt-Action Rifle has been the primary weapon of the Marine Corps since before the First World War and it was the primary weapon of the Unites States Army until just a few years ago when it was replaced by the M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle. However, no more than a hadful of the new 'Mickey Mouse' M1s have made it to any unit in the Phillippines at the time of the Japanese invasion. The Springfield has excellent range, is legendary for its durablity and accuracy and it fires the hard hitting .30-06 round. It is fitted with a 5 round permanently attached magazine under the barrel which is loaded with 'alligator' stripper clips of 5 rounds (takes 1 whole round to reload) and can be fitted with a bayonet.

Stats: 30-06 caliber, 5 shot capacity in Internal Magazine (reloaded by 5 round stripper clips), Damage: 5D+1, Range: 125/250/500 yards, In-close penalty: -1D (If trying to shoot targets inside of 5 feet or in cramped places), Reliablity: 1. Note: With a scope attached the range is increased to 150/300/600 yards and for single aimed shots Medium Range Difficulty becomes Short Range Difficulty numbers and Long Range Difficulty number becomes Medium range Difficulty Numbers. No change is applied to Short Range shots)

-SMLE Bolt-Action Rifle

Image

The standard long-arm of the British and all of their affliated nations (Canada, Austrailia, New Zealand, India, Gurkhas, etc.); the 'Smelly' as its affectionally known is a hard-hitting, extremely durable bolt-action rifle that hits as hard as the Springfield while having a slightly shorter range though having twice the ammunition capacity with its 10 round magazine which is re-loaded by way of 5 round stripper clips of .303 rounds. (It takes 1 round to load one five-round stripper clip; 2 rounds to load two). It can also be fitted with a bayonet.

Stats: 303 caliber, 10 round internal magazine (Reloaded by Two 5 round stripper clips), 5D+1 damage, range: 100/200/400 yards, In-close penalty: -1D (If trying to shoot targets inside of 5 feet or in cramped places), Reliablity: 1.

-Browning Automatic Rifle

Image

A heavy, long-barrlled weapon that is a cross between a Rifle and Light Machinegun, the BAR (always pronounced Bee A Arr, not 'bar' like the place to get a drink) was invented near the end of the Great War to give 'Walking Fire' or 'Suppressing Fire' to troops on the move. It fires the same hard-hitting .30-06 round as the Springfield, but in addition to being able to fire single shots in semi-automatic mode, it can also fire fully automatic in 5 shot bursts. This gives the weapon a devastating ability to knock down opponents and makes it excellent for quick suppression of enemy positions, but the 20 shot removable clips run dry quick when firing this way. The weapon comes from the factory with a bi-pod, but in the field, this bulky attachment is usually quickly ditched by those who have to fire the 20 pound (that's WITHOUT the bi-pod) weapon.

Stats: .30-06 caliber, Can fire in either semi-automatic (1 shot at a time) or full automatic modes (5 round bursts); It deals 6D damage with Bursts or 5D+1 for semi-auto; 20 shot clips (1 action to reload if a spare clip is available), range: 75/150/300 yards, In-close penalty: -1D (If trying to shoot targets inside of 5 feet or in cramped places) Reliability: 1 on Semi-Auto; 2 when firing Bursts; When performing Suppressing Fire (10 rounds spent) targets must defeat a PER roll of 15 to be able to take any action that would expose them to fire.

-Winchester M12 'Trench Gun' (12 gauge, Pump-action Shotgun with Riot-gun barrel)

Image

The M12 is the military version of the exremely popular Winchester 1912 Pump Action shotgun in 12 gauge and with a Riot-gun length barrel and fitted with a heat-shield and a bayonet lug for mounting a bayonet. This short range, though hard-hitting weapon, is doled out with Triple-Aught Buckshot shells and it's a definite man-stopper at close range, while still being able to hit with a decent punch at ranges out to about 30 yards. After that, any hits aren't likely to do any serious damage. Its toughness and dependability are legendary among Police and Military units as well as Hunters.

Stats: 12 gauge; Pump-action, 6 shell capacity tube (can load 1 shell per action), Damage: 6D/4D+2/3D+1, Range: 15/30/60 yards, In close penalty: none, Can mount a bayonet, Reliability: 1.

-1928 Thompson Submachinegun

Image

The 1928 military version of the famous (or INFAMOUS) 'Tommy Gun' has dropped the fragile forward pistol grip for a more standard underbarrel grip and the .45 caliber (same round as the military standard 1911 .45 pistol) weapon can take either a 20 shot 'stick' clip or a 50 round drum. The weapon is well known for its hard-hitting capabilities, though it does suffer from a tendency to jam, especially when fitted with the 50 round drum. Still, being able to lay down 50 rounds of fully automatic fire is a capability the military just couldn't ignore.

Stats: .45 caliber, Range: 25/50/100 yards; Ammo: either 50 round drum or 20 round 'stick' clip (1 full round to replace a Drum, 1 action to replace a Stick clip if a spare clip is available), Fires 5 round bursts, Damage: 5D+2 per burst, In close penalty: None, Reliability: 2 with Stick Clip, 3 with Drum; When performing suppressing fire (10 rounds spent); Targets must make a PER 15 Difficulty roll to be able to take any actions that would expose them to fire.

-Colt 1911 Pistol

Without question the most famous semi-automatic handgun in the world, the Colt .1911 fires a .45 calbier bullet from a 7 round clip and is famous the world over for its hard-hitting ability and durability. The Colt 1911 has been the standard side arm of the U.S. Military since World War I and that is unlikely to change any time soon. Like all automatic handguns, it's more likley to jam than a revolver, but then again, 7 round capacity and the ability to quickly reload have thier own advantage over most 'six guns'.

Stats: .45 caliber, Range: 12/25/50 yards; Ammo: 7 round clip (1 action to reload if a spare clip is available), Damage: 5D, In close penalty: none, Reliablity: 2.

-Smith and Wesson 1917 Revolver

Image

Created for the U.S. mlitary during WW1, the Smith and Wesson 1917 fires the same .45 round as the 1911 Colt Automatic, but with the better reliability of a Revolver. Not many U.S. soldiers still carry the S&W 1917, but it remains popular with the Cavalry and with some Pilots.

Stats: .45 caliber, Range: 12/25/50 yards; Ammo: 6 round cylinder (1 action to unload, can reload 3 rounds into the cylinder using 'half-moon' clips in 1 action; 2 actions to use two clips to fully reload weapon), Damage: 5D, In close penalty: none, Reliablity: 1.

More US and Allied Small Arms:

-M1 Carbine

Image

The M1 Carbine is a brand-new weapon designed to be a light-weight alternative to a rifle for rear-echelon personnel like truck drivers and for specialists who are tasked with carrying heavy gear like Radiomen and Medics/Corpsmen. It is a semi-automatic weapon that fires a light weight, .30 caliber pistol round from a 15 round clip that has better range than a pistol but much less than that of a Springfield or Garand Rifle. It also doesn't hit all that hard, but the light weight and 15 round capacity is making it an immensely popular weapon with its initial users.

Stats: .30 caliber, 15 shot capacity in detachable clip, Damage: 4D+2, Range: 30/60/120 yards, Semi-Automatic, In Close penalty: None, Reliability 2.

-M1 Garand Rifle

Image

The M1 Garand has become the US Army's standard Infantry weapon and it is VERY slowly making its way to the Marine Corps where many of the 'old-breed' distrust it as some new-fangled, "Mickey Mouse" weapon. It is a heavy, semi-automatic weapon that fires the same hard-hitting .30-06 round as the Springfield, BAR and Browning Machinegun and it has excellent range and is extremely reliable. The 'novelty' of the weapon is that it fires using 8 round en-block clips that are inserted through the top of the weapon into its internal magazine and when the eighth round is fired, the metallic 'clip' holding the rounds together is ejected with a distinctive 'ping' sound.

Stats; .30-06 calaiber, 8 shot capacity in Internal Magazine loaded by 8 round 'en-bloc' clips, Damage: 5D+1, Range: 100/200/400 yards, In-close penalty: -1D (If trying to shoot targets inside of 5 feet or in cramped places), Reliablity: 1.

Allied Heavy Weapons:

-Enfield Boys Anti-Tank Rifle

Stats: .55 caliber; Uses Heavy Weapons Skill, Needs to be braced on Bipod to shoot (takes 1 round), Fires 1 shot per Round (only action possible), 5 shot removal box magazine; 7D+1 damage (2D+1 vehicle), range: 150/300/600 yards, Penalty of -2D if used against non vehicle targets, Reliablity: 1.

The Enfield Boys AT Rifle is a British weapon designed in the late 30s to be effective against Light Armored vehicles and capable of being transported and utilized by a single person (albeit with difficulty, it's QUITE heady and has massive recoil which requires its bipod and monopod to use effectively) to fire (preferably against the weaker sides or back of an armored vehicle) and hopefully damage or nullify an armored vehicle. The Marine Raiders have managed to acquire a few of these weapons.

-M1941 Johnson Light Macinegun

Stats: .30-06 caliber, Fires in 5 shot bursts, Damage: 6D per Burst, 20 shot clips: 1 action to reload if a spare clip is available; in addition an additional 5 rounds can be loaded into the weapon with a 5 round 'Alligator' Stripper Clip for a total capacity of 25 rounds when thus 'fully' loaded; note, loaded 5 round Stripper Clip takes 1 round, so to load to a full 25 takes 2 rounds; range: 75/150/300 yards, In-close penalty: -1D (If trying to shoot targets inside of 5 feet or in cramped places) Reliability: 2; Weapon has built-in, fold-down bipod, when deployed, the Weapon uses the Heavy Weapons skill, if fired from the hip/shoulder, use the Guns skill; When performing Suppressing Fire (10 rounds spent) up to 3 targets in a 10 foot arc must defeat an Alertness/PER roll of 15 to be able to take any action that would expose them to fire)

The M1941 Johnson Light Machine-gun is the creation of USMC reservist Captain Melvin Johnson. He wanted to build a weapon that was superior to the BAR and according to many, he succeeded. The Johnson is much lighter than the BAR, has the same range, fires at a similar rate, uses the same hard-hitting .30-06 round, has an integral bi-pod and side mounted magazine that allows for excellent suppressing fire from a prone user or one braced behind a wall. In addition, the weapon can hold an 'extra' 5 rounds through the use of the 'alligator' stripper clips long used for the 1903 Springfield Rifle, thus increasing the capacity to 25 rounds vice the 20 in the BAR. On the flip side; the Johnson is a bit more 'temperamental' than the BAR, requiring regular maintenance and the size of the single-stack, curved magazines means that fewer of them can be carried than the more compact box magazines of the BAR. In any event, the U.S. Military passed on the weapon, but Johnson got an order from the Dutch government for a shipment to the East Indies. After a few thousand had been built and were being readied for shipping, the Dutch East Indies fell to the Japanese at the beginning of the war and the shipment was instead snatched up by a U.S. military suddenly at war and with a pressing need for any weapons at hand. Most of these weapons have so far been assigned to the Marine Parachute Battalion and the Raider Battalions.
