Onboard the Light Freighter Nova Kestrel somewhere in Deep Space along the hyperlanes to the Imperial Base on Coronar

In a small, isolated section of space in the middle of nowhere, a battle between a band of Rebel Alliance agents on their light freighter and a force of Imperials that included a pair of TIE fighters and an Armored Transport named Elusive continued to rage...

In the cockpit of his beloved Ghtroc Freighter, Cal Tak Dornan juked his ship suddenly to one side and up and then quickly back the opposite direction and down, evading fire from the two Laser Turrets on the Imperial ship and suddenly he levelled out the ship and yelled to his co-pilot, "Hit 'em NOW JACKSON!"

In the co-pilot's seat, Jackson Crodowski ignored the sweat breaking out on his brow, ignored the flashing lights and pinging alarms from his sensor scopes that informed him of the Nova Kestrel's lack of operational shields and growing gravity and mass problems and concentrated SOLELY on his targeting computer. He took a deep breath and as one part of his subconscious was informing him that Cal was yelling something at him, he instead saw the Imperial Craft fill his cross-hairs and he squeezed the trigger sending a Proton Torpedo towards the Imperial Ship which it hit dead cetner and erupted in a short-lived golden light filled sphere. Concentrating on the sensors pointed at the Imperial ship, he yelled back to Cal, "DIRECT HIT! THEIR SHIELDS ARE DOWN AND THEY'VE LOST ENGINE POWER!"....then a look at the internal scanners showed him an even crazier sight. "Uhh....somehow we just ejected a.....BLACK HOLE THAT'S EXPANDING RAPIDLY?!!! WE NEED TO THE HELL OUTTA HERE, NOW!" His last comment was followed by the ship suddenly shaking all over and the sensors/scanner screens suddenly vanishing and the Rebel Enigneer knew immediately that one of the TIE Fighters had just managed to hit them with a blast that knocked out their sensors....

In the gunner's well of the Heavy Laser Turret, Professor Clark did his best to line up his weapon to shoot at one of the remaining TIE fighters, but the sudden evasive maneuvers that came from the cockpit threw off his aim and the laser blasts JUST missed a spinning Imperial fighter. The Academic cursed, but a moment later he was thankful when he saw that his shots had caused that same fighter to miss them with its return fire. Then the ship shuddered badly as the OTHER remaining TIE fighter managed to hit them with its twin laser cannons....

Vale Starcloud started to move towards the switch that would open the hatch above them so they could eject the Gravity Projector, but the sudden lurches in movement caused the young Jedi to stumble this way and that. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath, concentrated on the Force and suddenly leaped with his hand outstretched and slapped the button, opening the hatch above them and he yelled out; "Okay, TOSS IT OUT NOW!" to his companions....

Feeling as if they were moving somebody's massive table during an Earthquake, it was all Kit and Zuul could do to keep the Gravity Well Projector in their strong arms as they were shifting this way and that violently during the battle, but they both were EXTREMELY relieved to hear Vale call out that the hatch was open. With a mighty heave, the Wookie and the Barabel launched the object into space and Spilfer quickly moved to restore the magnetic shielding as Vale then hit the switch again to close the hatch and everyone slumped to the deck in exhausted triumph for a few seconds.....

Then the irrepressible Squib popped up and rushed to the cockpit. Startling Cal and Jackson, Spilfer squirmed into the cockpit and jammed his face against the transparisteel and called out excitedly. "Yep, turn right and move REALLY fast tall ones! That gravity ball be over-loading and will soon be a black hole and we be sucked into Infinity, you bet!"

OOC: Okay, sorry for the delay, I was hoping to get a response from Solo.....HOPEFULLY the actions I took for Cal are okay...

Okay, the situation is this....the sensors/scanners are down (as are the Shields) for the Nova Kestrel; Clark's fire control sensors are working okay, but they pretty much just focus on ships, so they aren't the greatest for anything else.

The Elusive is currently limping along with no weapons but there ARE two intact TIE fighters still out there. There is ALSO a growing mini-black hole near all the ships.....and while it's NOT showing up on the sensors (because NOTHING is right now)....Cal and Clark (and Spilfer) know WHERE it is and how to move AWAY from it, which Spilfer is obviously advising to do.

Vale spent a Force Point (and no longer has any at the moment) as did Jackson for his shot with the Proton Torpedo (he has 1 remaining); I did NOT have Kit spend one for the heave/ho as it wasn't needed.

Satisfied that they were able to jettison the developing black hole from the ship, Vale closes the hatch and straps himself in, prepared to take a bumpy ride until this whole mess is over.

Zuul

Zuul smiles and slaps Kit and Vale on the back, and tries to get Spilfer. "Nice work." In the quiet that the absence of the squib created, he hears the groans and whines of the ship. "Uh. Not good."

He straps in, confident that they will get out of this before that black hole gets them.

Cal grits his teeth and follows Spilfer's advice, banking right and pushing the ship to maximum throttle to escape. Cal will also use a Force Point if he has any left.

(OOC: Apologies for being out of touch lately. Things have been pretty busy on my end. This week may be kinda crazy, too, just as a heads-up. The recent actions for Cal have been fine. No complaints here.)

Onboard the Light Freighter Nova Kestrel somewhere in Deep Space along the hyperlanes to the Imperial Base on Coronar

The situation in the tiny section of nowhere suddenly reaches a climax as the ejected Gravity Well Projector has been locked into an overload and is creating a miniature black hole!

In the cockpit Cal Tak Dornan slams the controls to the right, jukes this way and that to evade fire from the pair of TIE fighters still on their tail and punches up the acceleration to maximum, trusting to the Force while doing so and causing virtually everyone else onbard the little freighte to suddenly be pinned and slammed back into their seats as his maneuvers just BARELY manage to keep them from being sucked into the black hole....

In the gunner's well, Professor Clark is the only one that is able to take in the awesome sight, albeit VERY SMALL on his Fire Control screen, of the growing black hole that manages to grab the Elusive and one of the two TIE fighters and pull them into its core....strangely elongating them into some weird distorted shape for a long moment before they vanish entirely. The other TIE fighter is blown into a million bits as he manages to walk some fire from his Heavy Laser Turret into it and with a long sigh, he's able to finally breath as they clear out of the range of the 'mini black hole' and are able to escape the danger AND having succeeded at their mission!

Spilfer is thrilled with the situation and quickly "calls dibs" on the Black Hole in the name of the Squib Poly-Anarchy...smiling HUGELY when no one objects. After a VERY QUICK stop off with a Squib "Momma Ship"; the Rebels report back to a friendly base to inform them of the mission's success.

There they are feted as heroes, given awards and told that their next mission will be a long; free-wheeling one. They are told they essentially get to live the life of free-traders in the Elrood Sector and neighboring Minos Cluster where both Rebel and Imperial presence is EXTREMELY limited. Both as a sort of 'vacation' and as a 'intelligence gathering' mission to ascertain the situation there. Find if there's any likely allies to be had; any resources to legitimately trade for; possible Safe-Worlds; figure out if the Imperial Threat was likely to increase or if it could be dealt with, etc., etc.
