Farmanus the Unneeded

Farmanus slings his pigmonn rifle over his shoulder, picks up his spear, and makes himself ready to move out. He is glad to have such powerful allies.

"Yes," he nods sagely to Kurot. "We should all do haste."

Gam’A Zone, 305D/81 (Late Afternoon)

After leaving the burrows area, you proceed north for another day before noticing something different about the Zone Barrier. Normally it is not visible during daylight hours, which is why the crossing takes place after dark so one can find the gaps in the falling particle sheets.

From your location, a half-mile away from the boundary (Green Dot), you can clearly see the cascade of falling green energy sheets glowing in the late afternoon sun. They flicker with different levels of intensity as they slowly sink into the ground of the Gam’A Zone.

Denslow says, Let's wait and observe these sheets before we continue. We need to find good openings for us.

"Either this is good," says Kurot, eyeing the barrier, "or it is very bad. If it merely means we can see the holes to traverse the barrier during daytime, it saves us having to wait until night. But if the nature of the barrier itself is different, that is...not good." He tries to make out whether the holes are still present in the barrier.

Kurot compares input files from his visual sensors. He reports that there are fewer holes in the sheets then in times past, but enough large and frequent ones remain to offer safe passage through the barrier.

Farmanus the Unneeded

Farmanus gapes in slack-jacked wonder at the shimmering, translucent green sheets cascading gently down from the heavens. He has no recollection of passing through this luminous gateway. Did the Morlocks capture him outside this boundary? Did he enter the Gam'A Zone through some unbarricaded subterranean passageway? He does not trust his memory, and realises he may have simply forgotten - but how could one fail to remember a sight such as this? If the greatest writer of the written word could have described its sublime, bewitching magnificence, even those words would fall weepingly short.

"Purdy," murmurs the beefy lamebrain in perfect awe.

Deep down, he harbours a suspicion that Silvestri is responsible for this near-indescribable marvel.

Belial

Awesome, duuude. Belial says nothing more, just settles himself to watch the show as he gnaws a toenail.

Silvestri

"A change in the pattern is most disconcerting, I hope it doesn't indicate that the barrier is starting to close. We should proceed through as soon as a suitable gap appears"

Kurot nods his head unit.

"Indeed. If the barrier is strengthening, or the gaps closing, our ability to enter or exit this zone may soon come to an end. If that happens, we should be sure that we're comfortable with an extended stay in whatever side of the barrier we're on at the time."

Do we know anything IC about why the barrier is there or how it's controlled, or by whom?

Gam’A Zone, 305-307D/81

Through discussion and experience, you determine that the energy veils of the Zone Barrier may be safely traversed despite some of the holes disappearing. You make a mental note to monitor any further ‘healing’ of the curtains that could impede the crossing. After several hours, you pass though final the 43rd curtain and proceed north until reaching the Long Route.

Image

The Long Route, 308-311D/81

You spend four days on the Long Route heading east and watching for Pigmonn activity. Luckily no orks were encountered, and you reached the familiar 40ft-high marker stones, which serve as a natural campsite, in the late afternoon on day 311. There were no campers here that night, but evidence indicated the area is becoming polluted with camper’s trash from frequent use.

The Long Route, 312D-317D/81

A merchant caravan was encountered on the 314th day. They were returning to the Anna Luse Barony and Zatox after delivering foodstuff, livestock and mercantile goods to Hagalton.

After a week walking east, you sight Hagalton at the end of day 318, 17 days after leaving the tunnels under the Gam’A Zone.
