Chapter 2: The Heist
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
No, they don't have anything else of interest on their bodies.
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk takes a dagger as well. He stands and looks over at Raamiz...
"Are you well enough to move? We should get out of here as quickly as we can?"
ooc: Don't think I mentioned it specifically, but Shmehk will put his armour on before they leave

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Alright... ready to leave?
You head through the storage room, and back up the stairs.
This brings you to the end of a corridor on the main floor, where the party is. The corridor heads north about 40 feet before turning left. Along the left side, there are two doors, and along the right side there are three doors.
You know that the northern most door on the right goes to the kitchen, and that if you continue around the turn in the corridor, you will pass several guest rooms before reaching the ball room where the party is still going on.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
"We have rope. If any of those guest rooms have windows, we could be out of the house with none the wiser."
Shadrach, Demon-Hunter - Dust to Dust
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
From your overall understanding of the layout, you are on the ground floor, and the guest rooms along the north edge of the house look out on a garden... so there ought to be windows.
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk weighs up the options.
"The guests rooms are a good idea. Pick one, out the window and through the gardens"

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
You move up the hallway, to a guest room door.
Opening it, you see a young, shirtless man lying in bed with a pair of half-dressed middle-aged women.
The women scream, and the man jumps up out of the bed, drawing his sword!

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Raamiz fakes a stumble against the doorframe, fakes a burp, and blinks at the couple. "Pardon, good sir. I didn't realize...it was occupied." He attempts to stumble closer and surreptitiously reaches behind his back for his dagger.
Shadrach, Demon-Hunter - Dust to Dust
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk takes his cue from Raamiz... stepping into the room he holds his hand up to his mouth
"Oh gods, I think I'm going to be sick" he fakes looking around for something to throw up in while trying to flank the young man.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
"Don't worry, ladies! I'll smite these blackguards for disturbing us!" cries the youth, as he jumps forward to lunge at Shmehk with his longsword, missing.
The ladies continue to shriek in outrage. One picks up a vase and throws it. Another tosses a bronze statue of a naked woman.
youth init: [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22
Ladies init: [1d20-2] = 14-2 = 12
Youth attack: [1d20+4] = 6+4 = 10[1d8] = 7
To figure out who gets attacked by the ladies, lets have everyone attempt to roll under their luck. Success/Failure and margin of success/failure will figure into who gets attacked by whom. The two worst margins will each get an object thrown at them, unless only one of you fails the roll, in which case he will get two things tossed at him.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Raamiz snarls. "I was trying to spare your life, fool." He lets go of the hilt of his dagger and draws his short sword instead, closing in on the bravo.
Luck roll (Luck 16): [1d20] = 19
Sure, now I roll high!
Melee attack, initiative [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6, short sword [1d20-1] = 2-1 = 1, damage [1d6-1] = 1-1 = 0
...wow.

Shmehk
Luck: [1d20] = 15
Trying to dodge the thrown objects, Shmehk attacks the youth, attempting to disarm him:
"Remember, you drew steel on us, the last thing you will do"

Long Sword: to-hit [1d20] = 13, deed [1d3] = 3, dmg [1d8] = 6

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk slices the young man's arm, drawing blood and causing him to drop his sword as he collapses. The projectiles launched by the matrons crash harmlessly against the walls. They continue to scream, and grope for things to throw at you.
The ladies will throw at you again, so roll luck rules again to see who they throw at. You can engage them, or go out the window to the room, now that the swordsman has been downed. The sound of the alarm being taken up by other party guests echoes through the hallway.
To go out the window, roll a DC 5 dex/ climb walls roll. Failure means you face plant on your way out, showing your escape.
Ladies init [1d20-2] = 20-2 = 18

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
"So much for a quiet escape." Throwing a scowl at the women and the flying crockery, Raamiz bolts for the window.

Sneak Silently/Pick Pocket/Climb Sheer Surfaces/Forge Documents [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22
The dice are not my friend right now. I rolled well on the one roll I literally could not have failed.

On the way out, one of the ladies tosses a flowerpot that hits Shmehk (1 damage) but then you are through the window and off across the garden into the night!
Congrats! You have successfully stolen the key!
