Dieter - Mage
Yes, good point Ulster. Turning to the metal golum he has following him: Please take us to where we can reach the lower levels of the ship.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The metal golem seems to balk at the order. But my rounds, Sir. Um... Uh... Yes, Sir. There are two fully operational Drop Tubes nearly equidistant from this location. I will take you to the tube nearest your quarters, Sir. Follow me. He zips off, expecting you to follow.
He leaves the Security Center and heads north down the main tunnel that direction. On the way he fires two grenades from his torso at vegepygmies that peek out: one explosive and one incendiary. Bits of vegetable men are blasted about and burn and none else peeks out at you.
He takes you to a kind of well but made of metal and without a rope or bucket. You've seen one like this before.
The tube is brightly lit and there are handles (like a ladder) on the inside that move, one set moving down and the other up.
The metal golem says, Will that be all sir? I must return to my rounds.

Dieter - Mage
Yes, this is fine, please return to your rounds. Dieter says in response to the golem's request.
Turning to Grimes: You were right, those golems are very useful.
Dieter flicks a copper piece into the tube in an effort to try and hear its depth.
OCC: Is the maintenance golem still with the party?

Furuk - Fighter
Furuk stays a safe distance from the tube.
"We do have our own priorities and those should be put first. I think this new suit may be affecting my brain."
He points to the ladder moving down.
"Are you going to be the first to go Grimes?"

Grimes smiles and says “I’d be delighted to go first. Let me go down, give me a few minutes to check things out, and then I’ll come back up to give you the lowdown. Assuming I don’t die, of course...”
Grimes turns invisible and prepares to go downward.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The maintenance golem is still with the party.
Dieter's copper piece doesn't descend into the tube, although the momentum from the flick causes the copper to hit the other side of the tube and ricochet around, not dropping but still able to move.
Grimes disappears.

Castinus marvels at the motion of the copper coin, and says a silent prayer for Grimes' safe return.
These are ghouls. They hang out in graveyards, they have long tongues, and they eat people.

Grimes - Intrepid Halfling of Poseidon
As he nears the top of the tube where his friends are, Grimes calls out quietly "Hey! I'm coming up. Don't stab me." He turns visible again as he scales out of the tube.
"Well, I didn't die. And that is one weird contraption. When I went in that tube, it's like I was flying. No weight, nothing. I was floating like a feather. All I had to do was grab the handle moving down, and it pulled me down. That's some crazy stuff. Oh, anyway... one floor below us seems empty, alot like this floor we're on now. I saw some old equipment laying around, and maybe a skeleton in the distance. I didn't see or hear anything alive, but I didn't leave the tube either."
"I went down another floor, and it was dark. I'm talking pitch dark. Even with my being able to see in the dark, I couldn't make out much more than some boxes and crates. I could see faintly an exit with some sort of creeping vine trying to grow through the door."
"The next floor opened up to a reaaaallly big area with lots of plants. The air was really moist and smelled like moss, grass and maybe rotting plants and stuff. Reminds me of my aunt Millie's garden - really overgrown and out of control. I'm pretty sure I saw some things moving around down there in that green stuff."
"I went down what seemed like one more floor to a solid bottom, but there was no exit or door, so I came back up. So there's plenty to explore, for sure. Although, I'm curious about the boxes and crates, myself."
Grimes stands anxiously tapping Wave on the floor and staring absent mindedly at the maintenance golem thing...

"Plants?" says Ulster, cocking one eyebrow. "In a metal fortress ship? Huh. I think I'd like to see that."
Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
Grimes nods vigorously and says "Yeah. LOTS and LOTS of plants. Like a dang forest of em'. Couldn't see anything other than plants. And there's critters or such moving about in there too..."Zhym wrote:"Plants?" says Ulster, cocking one eyebrow. "In a metal fortress ship? Huh. I think I'd like to see that."

Dieter - Mage
Interesting indeed, good job grimes. Should we start on the level directly below?
Turning to the golum: Can you follow me down?

The repair golem turns to Dieter and beeps and whistles in an assuring way. You get the impression that it might mean yes.

Grimes - Fighter
Grimes smiles and steps forward. “Allllright! Let’s get moving. I’ll secure our landing.” He again turns invisible and enters the tube, heading down to the level blow. Once he gets there he’ll step into the floor and take up a watchful guard until the others arrive. “See you below!”

Well, I'm more curious about the plants, Castinus comments, but I suppose we should be efficient and systematic about this. One floor down it is.
