I tell Tog to remain at the tower with Guhra, and ride off to Gaul, there to sell my gems. I ride cautiously, looking for the wretched little bugger Guhnk and his bodyguards.

You retrieve your bow as you leave the tower; Guhra is busy and the guards don't seem inclined to contest you. You leave Tog (who now has your longsword and the three gemstones you gave her) at the tower with word that you'll return. She seems content to remain with Guhra's retinue for the time being anyway.

Your ride back across the countryside is quick and uneventful - less than a day to make the trip, arriving just before nightfall. Twelve days after you left the city, you see its gates rise again before you. You inventory your new belongings and visit the Usurer, who appraises the gemstones for you. He's willing to offer you 80% value for each of them if you wish to convert them to coin for purchases. (Remember that coins are 10/pound, so get heavy quick. Gemstones are a preferred way to store large-value amounts.)
