Chapter 07: Reunited again

Korin nods to Ox then steps back into a more concealed space.

Now, everyone can clearly hear the oncoming rush of angry armed goblins. Eddy, standing tensely by the eastern wall, stares intensely into the dark. He lifts his right hand up to the panel, while using the other to motion the whole group to stand dead still.

"Wait..... wait...... ....there!" he flicks some of the buttons on the panel just as the first pointy helmets and sharp spears appear over the edge of the sloping passage.

About 30-40 feet in, it looks like the whole ceiling collapses, as the goblins set off their own trap!

<AIIIYEEE> the first line of goblins shriek as they see logs come tumbling down towards them. A barrage of timber crashes down, bouncing and rolling in and downwards, crashing into the approaching goblins with a horrific noise. Shrill shouts of pain can be heard for a second, then only the rumbling thumps and crashes of heavy stuff tumbling downwards and jamming the passage. A puff of nauseous dust blows up towards the entrance, making Rickina cough.

Then - all goes quiet. The dust settles and silence is all.

Eddy turns triumphantly around, claps his hands to shake off the dust and with a smirk declares: "That's that then! Phew - all that dust made me thirsty", opens his pocket flask and empties it in three gulps, then continues:

"Now - will you, Jacob, Korin and Ox be able to make it safely home with Norbold ? I took the liberty of bringing your horses round from the other old caved-in entrance - they were getting really jumpy being tied up so near the bonesnapper. You'll find them below these stairs". - he points down to where you can see your horses.
"I suggest we split up: Wob does not know the location of your home village and I'll be gone long before his men clear that lumber up. But I might be in touch again - your skills are quite impressive and could come in handy one day. We'll let Darren at the pub be our contact, all right ?"

He then turns to Croma Gung and Rickina: "Sir - milady: I have an extra horse, also secured below. May I offer you escort to the coast ?" Both accept his offer; Croma Gung then turns to Korin, Jacob, Ox and Pyro to express "My most heartfelt thanks dudes. That was outstanding; you totally saved us from ending up as lizard lunch. Come see me play at the next air lute festival in Dagger Rock, I'll put you all on the guest list! Also, most welcome to hang out at our mansion in Xan Run if you come that way. Safe trip, dudes - catch you later!"

Rickina reluctantly mumbles vague thanks and mutters "Maybe all men aren't losers". Then they're off!

The four adventurers head for home. Travelling on horseback through the evening sun Jacob (as NPC) glances back at Rat Ridge and chuckles: "What a blast! Old Wob sure has a backlog to tend to now....ha ha ha"

With no incidents along the way, you arrive at Slowcroft around midnight. Norbold's mum comes rushing out to tend to his injuries. "I've been so worried, where have you all been ? I told you not to play in the mountains....."

You wink knowingly at each other. It sure was a blast!

Korin "We ain't been in no mountains, he just decided to get into a brawl with a biggin' at the tavern. Guess Norbold picked a fight he couldna win." the dwarf heads back to the tavern to wash the past days events away and speculate on the next adventure. "Guess I still got a lot of adventurin ta do still afore I retire." the dwarf says as he downs another ale and chuckles to himself musing at the events in Wob's lair.

Ox- Helps Norbolds mom getting him into the cart. He gives Korin. a wink. He never could hold his booze. He begins walking with Korin. My throat is parched lets get a Ale.
