Re: The Quest Begins
Eugene carefully checks the door. There is no light coming from the other side and no noise. A distant dripping of water is the only sound and it beats a feeble tempo as Eugene checks the area where the door is framed by stone. Hinges on this side would seem to indicate that the door opens outward i...

Re: OOC
No problem with two paladins, this should be interesting. So far we have two paladins, one fighter and a druid it seems.

Eichar, figuring he is light without armor on, will cross the drawbridge doing his best not to make noise. He motions to the others to cover him as he crosses. If he successfully crosses he will peer into the courtyard utilizing any concealment that available to shield himself.

Re: House Rules/ My Interpretation of the Rules
Max, no weapon spec at this time. I would be willing to allow sheaf arrows, they would probably be something you have to acquire or commission someone to make, you wouldn't start with them. For most of my RPG playing time I played 2ed which had some pretty good called shot mechanics(IMHO anyway). I ...

Re: The Quest Begins
A quick double back allows the party to retrieve the torch. Eugene, staying close to the left side of the wall, squeezes past the area that he believes to be trapped. He then places the torch in front of the trap to mark the area. The rest of the party, following Eugene's example, skirts the trap ar...

Re: The Quest Begins
The doorway is about 70' away, since you haven't turned off at any point it should be fairly easy to navigate. Durin currently holds the party's only light source. If you are enacting your plan I just need to know if everyone is doubling back and who, if anyone, is staying put. Also, is Eugene stil...

Descent into the Depths
Begin Turn 1 Daylight was still in its infancy when you set out. The old castle track was easily navigated as you checked and re-checked your equipment. Iron spikes were counted, swords were oiled and wiped, lanthorns filled and pinches of sand were ready at hand. A quick survey of the castle above...

Re: House Rules/ My Interpretation of the Rules
I am not using weapon vs. ac. Weapon speed will come into play for initiative ties. Weapon reach will be used for things like charging or when common sense dictates.

House Rules/ My Interpretation of the Rules
I am going to apply common sense to combats as much as possible and also try to move them along quickly. When combat begins I will roll initiative for both sides. Players will declare their actions prior to any initiative rolls. Feel free to roll to hit and damage together to expedite things.

Character Creation
We are using the 1ed AD&D PHB or OSRIC if you don't have access to the original book. No Unearthed Arcana. For simplicity no evil PCs. All characters can take max starting gold for their characters as well as max hit points. At this time we are not using half-orc or gnome characters. The other r...

Re: Castle of the Mad Archmage
Hello all and thank you for expressing your interest. So far I have been having a blast running and playing in games on this board, hopefully the tradition will continue. I am setting up the game, I think we could stretch the party to 8 players. These are the first 8 who said they were definitely in...

Re: The Quest Begins
Eugene lies on the floor, his face a mere inches from the flagstones immediately in front of the party. Cautiously he taps with the pommel of a dagger, the floor below sounds hollow.Pit trap. Eugene deduces that the party could pass single file, either to the left or right of the trap without trigge...

You are the seventh son of a seventh son, you are a city street rat who had to cut a few purses to eat, you are a holy man who has spent sleepless nights praying in the chapel and waiting for a sign, you are the tenth son of a nobleman who has only the prospect of swinging a sword to earn gold.........

Re: The Quest Begins
Boldus and Caby continue in the lead, 10, 20,30, 40 feet forward. Boldus halts abruptly before the 50' mark, something does not look right with the stonework on the floor just ahead. Additionally, the party can observe a door set in the right side of the wall about 20' from where they are standing a...
